did you possibly turn the key lock all the way to the right which will make the cable not work? my cable used to came undone from the handle inside all the time. take the door sill out and lift the carpet by the drivers seat and check to see if the cable is still attached to the handle. you can also spray some lube in the key hole and slowly work the key just don't force it.

wew, glad you got it. thats a nifty trick that ill be sure to remember. someone closed the trunk at a yard and it took over an hour to open the thing. i lost a hammer and bent a OEM tire iron along with the trunk in that battle.
