Opening rear trunk lid when the cable does not work...

Suddenly the cable release for the rear trunk lid does not work, the key does not work. Any tips on how to get the trunk open?

did you possibly turn the key lock all the way to the right which will make the cable not work? my cable used to came undone from the handle inside all the time. take the door sill out and lift the carpet by the drivers seat and check to see if the cable is still attached to the handle. you can also spray some lube in the key hole and slowly work the key just don't force it.

AHHH, did not know the trunk key had that handle lock-out function--that was it...sprayed a little lubricant into the lock and now its perfect. Thanks for the tip.

wew, glad you got it. thats a nifty trick that ill be sure to remember. someone closed the trunk at a yard and it took over an hour to open the thing. i lost a hammer and bent a OEM tire iron along with the trunk in that battle.
