MR2 Body Work
I have an '85 MR2 that I'm planning to restore. 224,000 miles. There are rust holes around the rear wheel wells. I had a minor fender-bender a few years ago so I need a new front bumper (and hood). I was thinking about getting a full body kit that would cover up the rust holes after all the rust is cut out. Searching on the internet I've found 4 different body kits; T-Type, F1, Kaminari, and D2. Does anybody have opinions on any of these or know of other body kits that are better?
I will have to take it to a body shop to get the work done, how much should I expect it to cost? My hood is slightly bent up, should I get a new fiberglass hood? I've seen them for about $500. Also, I need a right front fender. If anyone knows of one please let me know. Thanks for any info. |

Dude, are you going to restore it? yet you want a body kit to cover the rust spots? What kind of half ass job is this restoration attempt? Here's an idea, Why don't you "cure" the rust and put some new metal?
If not, you can always head down to TJ (if you leave in Cali) ![]() |
