They only come on when your low beams are on, also there is usually a switch on the dash to enable/disable them. Also they have a seperate relay in the FRUNK fusebox for the fogs, check that as well. Hope that helps. |

I was wondering what did you have to buy/do to make what looks like oem headlamps housing fit HID. or is that one of those ebay lamps ( that allow h4 bulbs) along with a hid kit???

the kit i have isnt off of ebay..but i do think that basically the same thing is on there...I dont even have an HID kit in...i'm just not willing to spend hundreds of $$ just for lighting...its just the housing and takes like 10 minutes to put in. Looks nice but w/out HID its a pretty weak light so i rely on my fogs for my lighting

datguydeni, the pic above with the projectors in the OEM sized housing is the pegasus lights.
NorCal MR2 Pegasus Headlight Conversion They come with H7 halogens. If you want HID's it's $225 more. You'll loose high beams with this though. You could do an H4 conversion housing and throw HIDs in there. If you stay with an H4 halogen bulb with these, you'll keep high beam. If you go HID, you'll loose it. If you go this route, get a good glass housing like Hella or cibie and not that plastic housing ebay crap. The plastic crap can get moisture and the heat of HID's will melt it. Honestly, just get Hella or Cibie H4 housings, some good H4 bulbs and call it a day... |

Any lighting above 4300K, natural white color, increases in glare and decreases in actual usable light. Purple lighting is around 12000K and is terrible for lighting performance and blinding to other drivers. |

The farther you get away from the color of natural sunlight, the less useable light you have. If y ou want Purple lights, you'll have CRAPPY light output. Most of the output will be color and not lighting the actual road. The lighting output will be awful and as was said all you'll do is bind drivers. Being different isn't always good. Purple lighting is an example of this. If you want a little more color than 4300K gives out, don't go much higher than 5200K. Purple, aka 10K-12K, is just slight out horrible.

Personally I wouldn't spend several hundred dollars on lights that put out less light than a $10 bulb....but to each their own. It'd be a lot cheaper for you to just buy colored Halogen style bulbs. If you really want to copy a purple/blue effect with adequate lighting then purchase BMW or Mercedes projectors and retro fit them. The special reflecting qualities on the edge of their reflectors seperates the light and gives it that colored effect when viewed at an off angle, but it is a true 4700K light when viewed straight on. My Hella HIDs have a similiar effect but not quite as pronounced. But that costs money, and you can't have it all, choose any 2: cheap - fast - reliable. It applies to lighting in a similiar fashion as performance. Also, it is partly because of the cheap, poor quality and high color ranges of the e-bay and similiar companies that has made it illegal in all 50 states to put a HID bulb in ANY non-HID housing..period. Too many people glaring and blinding oncoming traffic and causing unsafe conditions, just to have colored lights. /shrugs... |

and purple headlights are the gay, has crap for color rendition and makes you see worse, the bmw ones are optical like you said, but iunno I'm not to hot on that crap. The pink and uv 9000+k bulbs are just plain retarded. if you want something crazy get a replacement bulb for a 15mil candle power THOR and put those in H4 housings... I got bored and put some in the 4Runner for the hell of it I drove offroad to a campsite and lets just say there were no visability issues 100/125 watt. I wouldn't run these on the road though WAY to bright, road rage bright... and the whole risk of melting ebay plastic h4 housings... ![]() |
