Hey there, I'm Alex and I'm 17. I owned about 5 cars and the MR2 is by far the best. I bought it and since mom paid for it, i didnt care about it. Once it broke, i sold it right away. Then a day later i felt like $hit. So I kept blaming my self and bam a few days ago i found my baby for sale again. Its all fixed and the guy wants 6K for it. I'm about to sell all my cars and buy back the MR2. Now that I have to pay for it, it means a lot more to me now. I already put down a deposit and therefore have to pay the 2nd half and pick up the car.
Anyways if you want the MR2 as the 1st car: If you dont have one already, dont buy one; if you already have one, hold on to it! Cars that I've owned: 1996 Mitsubishi Galant 1989 Volvo 1996 BMW 382I 1993 Infinity J30 1991 Toyota MR2-Was sold here 1992 Nissan 240sx 1991 Toyota MR2- Bought again Here. |

Thats so cool that you found it again. The only car we regret getting rid of is a pancake in a scrap yard now.

hi...i'm a new 1991 Turbo owner and the car is from Japan(right hand drive) and the car is 100% stock. I'd like to keep it everything stock as well. It's only got 118k. All i need to know is how to maintain the turbo in good shape. The turbo only kicks at 3700-4000 rpm. Is it normal or is there something wrong with that? I never had a MR2 before but i've driven a few of them. Please let me know if the turbo is kicking in at the right rpm and any other additional information to keep the car running good forever wil be very well appreciated.
also..i want to drop the car 2inches and i would like to know what is the best way to do it and the best product. I also want to keep the lightest rims with a low profile tire. I would like to know the lightest rim in the market and i prefer them to be in gun metal color or any other color rims that will suit with a yellow color. ( or giive me your opinion to make this car look better because there are not much in canada and i would like to drive something that looks different than the others) Last edited by Kuna; 11-11-2006 at 07:30 PM. |

Ok dudes, Im only 16 and
I am planning to buy a 2 next week, its a 92 N/A .I just have to go pick it up and pay him. In a way yea I do agree with DavidV, but to get this car I saved up my money for a long long time. Working my butt off just for the deuce so im pretty sure It will have some, ALOT of value to me. Its not my first car im going to drive but first car I am buying. Ive had my licsence for a while now and I drive safely, I dont feel the need for kicking it like other newbe drivers that try to look cool. I know how 2's are "dangerous" cars. Ive driven 1 a couple of times, My cousin has 1. I think you shouldnet give a 16 yr old a fast/expensive car just out of nowhere, then they have got no value for it. But im going to take very good care of it, drive it safely, and autoX it to learn how to drive it. Then I'll know how to handle it on the road running with a bit more potential. Also about the idea of acting "cool" with friends, that wont be a problem for me, none of us, my friends are appealed by the ricer community. I know what should and sholdnt be done on the road, and whats going too far. |

Congrats on your impending purchase, we expect pictures when you get it home : ) As for the other stuff, I agree 100% about not giving kids sports cars, but if they work for it and buy it themselves why not. I think the MR2 is a great first car for kids who have common sense. Just a quick question. acting cool wont be a problem for you because your friends find the ricer community appealing? MR2s can be ricey too sometimes ![]() |

I meant we arent appealed by them. Yea mr2s can be riced out but that depends on the owner. But chances are if you own a 2 your not a ricer(99.9% of times) I meant all the other kids at school think they are cool riding around with thier Civics, Tegs, Eclipses ans such with cheap $50 mufflers that sound like crap. Burning out in the parking lot. street racing eachother right after school everyday. Cant wait to my deuce home.

And as for the ricers, with their civics and integras and whatnot, yeah they all think its cool to rice up their cars and stuff, but just because they're into that doesnt mean they don't notice you. 9/10 times when I get approached about my car (non ricey one) it's by a ricer who wants to chat, the interest is there, and I garuntee most of them do notice you. A lot of people don't even know that these cars exist until they see one. |

the car isn't the problem. the driver is.
if you're an 16-20 year old kid and you rate yourself above a 7 on a scale of 1-10 of your driving ability, you probably shouldn't be driving a fast car, much less an MR2. if you think that you're that good already, you're that much more likely to screw up badly and write off the car and/or your legs/life. if you think you're above a 7, you're more likely than not completely oblivious to how much you DON'T know about driving fast. if you think you're an ok driver, but have a bit to learn and are willing to learn that patiently, it might be ok. that's part of the problem i have with SRT-4's as well- they put a fairly fast car in the hands of a lot of people who shouldn't be driving it, but can easily afford it. and this is coming from someone who went through the skip barber program, and teaches teenagers to drive for a living.. when it comes to driving, some of the best knowledge you can have is the knowledge of the knowledge you don't have. |
