uncomfortable and starting to fade i will be replacing them one day but need the 2800 for a new set... right now that's not on the top of my list

That comes with every TRD ball knob. They can be had for about $30 on eBay. Pretty easy find

I just don't understand it looks just like all of the ac control units whats different and what makes it electronic?

It has automatic climate control. You can set the car to a certain temperature, and the heat and fan changes automatically to maintain that temperature.
