What about Shell Rotella T? I know its mainly for diesel engines, but I know a ton of Subaru guys run it. My buddy also runs it in his SV650.

I always use Mobil 1 have never had issues with it. Works perfect and test shows that it def lives up to the hype.

So im I. I dont really beileve that there isnt a drawback somewhere. Somehow its combining effects of a really thin oil with the properties of a heavy oil. There has to be a drawback somewhere. I know my friend swears by it but he still burnt a qt of oil in 4k mi on a 120k 02 types. If it really was as great as it is why dont manufacturers use it?

Well, I just got my MR2 (85) and took it to a Firestone store and they put KENDALL Synthetic 10w30 in it...

Is that AWEFUL oil?

I know I could do better after reading this and my next change will probably be a Mobile1 or AmsOil after reading this, but wondered what you experts know about the Kendall product?

I have never even heard of Kendall motor oil.

Looks like a decent oil though i have never personally heard of them. Looks like they are into Gt1 racing. Also its made by conoco phillips so it shouldnt be terrible.

Oil isn't going to make any difference in power unless it's completely slagged. I really doubt that you got 5 whp by switching from Mobile 1 to a different synthetic.

Power isn't what an oil is about anyway, it's about protection. Whatever has the best detergent package and allows your engine to run the longest is the best oil.

I understand its weird, I was at the ATS dyno day last year, and it was dynoed proven, but your right about slag issue.

at the Dyno day, a person with a fresh Mobile one oil change, dynoed. Right after that one run the guys at ATS changed the oil to Enos, and did another dyno run. they got 5 HP from it. Its hard to belive, and I understand oil is for protection.

isn't water like the worst thing you could ever put in your oil ever? I've only heard of people doing that when they want to kill an old civic pos or something

I use conventional 20w-50 in the 5s it has a couple of small leaks and uses a little bit of oil since i got 300k on the original bottom end.

But when i finish the 3s swap I will be running Mobil 1 syn.

I use Mobil 1 10-30 high milage

But i was running it in the winter and that was really hard on the car, because i think it's only good for down till like -20 Celsius before you're supposed to go to a 5-30, or 0-20/30 or whatever that one is
