Mobil 1 fully sythetic,

mobil 1 is the only oil I trust, and $25 for 5 quarts is nothing
(I used pennzoil before and my other car lagged for some reason and all my friends use mobil 1 on there cars and they have built engines)

BTW, can someone tell me why you have to change your oil every 3 months even if your car was just sitting at a shop and not being driven around?

Not totally sure about 3 months, i thought it was 6 months, but i think it's because conventional oil keeps on breaking down or something, and really if you drove your car 2 or 3 times a year, does that mean you should use the same oil for 10 years? Probably not.

I wouldn't change it every 3 months while it's being kept in the garage, especially when you're running a synthetic.

DON'T EVER, I REPEAT EVER USE PENNZOIL! i saw 2 motors that were cracked open by an experience tech at a chrysler store, he would open the head of the engine, and there was all this build up of sludge all over the place. he goes, i bet you anything this person runs pennzoil, sure enough that chrysler store used bulk pennzoil, and that customer was always getting her car serviced at their location. apparently it's just crappy oil. I prefer royal purple, and now even walmart in arizona carries it, and at $7 a quart, that's only $28 + $2 for a toyota filter (i have toyota parts guys as friends) for an oil change! i use to use mobile 1 all the time, it's a great oil as well, i just noticed a slight increase in spoil speed when i switched to royal purple, and my tacoma got better gas mileage, and ran much better switching from mobile to royal.

I usually use Valvoline or Castrol.

A guy I bought an engine from swore that Royal Purple evaporates so you have to keep topping it off and claimed there was some sort of lawsuit about it. It seemed pretty crazy to me but whatever.

What seems at least as important as the oil to me is the filter. I used a good ole Fram Orange Death Cap a couple times and noticed that the oil was usually good and black after 3K then I read a study on filters where the guy talked about how crappy they are. So I picked up a mobile 1 filter and with 4K on it, the oil is still a nice translucent golden color.

I use what ever synthetic is on sale with a K&N filter on the TL.

As far as the MR2 I'll use plain jane GTX for break in but as far as after the 500 miles, I'm not sure. I'm leaning towards Royal Purple but Mobile1 is good stuff too.
Kind of undecided, sure I'll go with purple. Not going to be driving it a whole lot and why dump insane amounts of money in a car to not put the best oil in it?
