Which Motor Oil Do You Use
What motor oil do you use in your MR2? I figured a poll would help give a visual aid to one of the most common questions on the board

Mobil 1 synthetic is probably about the 2nd best oil out there, but Amsoil is in another league. I spent 2 years changing oil, and nothing works as well as Amsoil. Cop cars use it, and go 10,000 miles, change the filter, add a quart, and go another 10,000 miles- and after that, it's still in better shape than regular oil after 3,000 miles.

I use Mobil 1. My uncle is a chemical engineer for ExxonMobil. He makes the stuff. I also own a ton of stock in the company. I am not going to argue whether it is better, best or sucks. Most of the top oils out there are quite capable of doing the job way past what we could possibly throw at them.

The detergent package in Mobile 1 is amazing. Anyone know if the same can be said of Amsoil?

I am sure the people that are distributors for it will say yes. My uncle though he may be biased because he works for the company says no. They spend most of their days breaking down other oils and testing there molecular structure and their pre-cursors. I am sure this will get the Amsoil distributors bent out of shape, this is not my intent. I am just telling you what my uncle says, and he would know. This is not saying that Amsoil is not a great oil..again I think most of these oils are capable of way out performing anything we can throw at them.

Confession time: When I first got my 2, I used a generic oil brand from Walmart. Once I realized I was keeping the car I quickly came to this board and got advice to use Mobil 1 clean5000 and been using it since.
