Mine works...It just has a leak. And I'm not trying to find it in the summer heat..I'm not thinking about it the rest of the year so it doesn't blow cold. I hope to find the leak next month. But its hot...

Mine didn't work when I got it. The previous owner cut the belt because someone told him that it would make it faster. I slapped a new belt on and it blows cold.

haha... I'd take a/c over like .0001 off your 1/4 time anyday. My A/C doesn't work, didn't work when I got it. The vents don't even blow. I replaced the blower motor that was like $80 and it still sucks so I just gave up. Then after I did my Gen3 motor swap the lines don't match up to the compressor. Its VERY VERY aggravating not having a/c where I live too. I can't go anywhere in the day time without getting covered with sweat. Mines a hard top to so no t-tops to take off. Its barely any better with the windows down either. Its just like extremely hot air moving when they're down. This would be biggest reason I'm getting another car for cruisin around. I really only want to drive the MR2 when I go to hang out at the car meet late at night. Otherwise its just annoying.

I don't use the A/C. I like cruising with the windows down, only when I'm doing drive-by's on local thugs I keep the windows up until I'm ready to pull out my AK and start 'street sweepin' them mo-fo's!!!

I gonna have to disagree with you Ben...I live in Socal and where I'm at it usually averages around 98 to 110 degrees in the summer. Then add your humidity and of course the lovely L.A. smog!

I have ac blows ice cold, however I have a wire short somewhere that only allows me to use the blower motor when the interior lights are off lol.

Eitherway doesnt bug me that much because i dont use it, mainly because of gas and the fact that I hate driving the mr2 with the windows up make me feel cramped.

I'm thinking about removing my A/C system. Has anyone done this before?

I removed all of mine. It never really gets hot enough that I need it in the MR2. I removed all the lines, condenser, compressor etc...

Don't have an MR2 so I didn't answer the poll.. People that say you don't need A/C in an MR2 must not have lived in places that NEED A/C. Try living in a place like Miami and not being covered in sweat and humidity when you go into work. While living there I had various soft top and T-top cars, and in the summer it was top up A/C on and in the winter it was top down enjoy the drive weather. Here in UT when it's over 100* and you're 4500 ft closer to the sun you need the top up so you don't get burned to a crisp, and A/C to stay comfortable. When I was living in So Cal I'd say it kinda depended where I was or where I was headed. I've lived other places where you could get away without A/C for the most part.

If it matters, I have working A/C in the Celica (r134a now) and while it is adequate it's not as cold as I'd like.

Mine is not working at the moment.. I did however was going to have the lines diagnozed. Was worth spending $30 to diagnoze it. They wanted to replace the whole thing will will cost me $1100. If i DIY i'll save half. Thats in the back burner for now tho. It does not really get all that hot here in Cali! hehehehe
