They didn't come from the factory with those specs. Factory installed kit/suspension, nothing more. The power mods on those "legendary" factory installed TRD2000gt mr2s were aftermarket addons from HKS and blitz, etc. The car that's most famous for that near 500 hp power output is a blue or purple one in Europe... owner had his car sent to TRD, kit installed, and then went crazy with aftermarket stuff. The result is the car you're talking about. Curb weight is still closer to ~2700-2800 lbs - IIRC the car was a fully optioned turbo.

**EDIT** Here found the info on the blue car...

I don't think he is the original UK owner though because the last time I saw this car, it had NO Apexi stuff, only HKS parts.

1998 Rev5 MR2 Turbo GT-S Based Donor Car
Fully Blueprinted HKS 3S-GTE
Apexi PowerFC ECU
Apexi PowerFC Electronic Boost Solenoid
Apexi PowerFC Handheld Controller
Apexi Power Intake Induction Kit
HKS 87mm diameter forged pistons
HKS 264 Deg inlet & exhaust cams
HKS Vernier Sprockets
A 2.2mm HKS metal head gasket
HKS Super Fire Iridium Spark plugs
Ogura Twin Plate Clutch (Friction plates have been done two months ago).
HKS Uprated Core Intercooler
HKS Intercooler Pipe Kit
HKS Super Sequential Blow Off Valve
HKS Super Dragger Polished S/S Twin exit unit
HKS Anti-cat bypass pipe
TRD Engine mounts
TRD Quickshift Kit (Although the last onwer swapped with his Rev5 Mr2 gear knob)
TRD Clear Side Repeaters
TRD Two Way LSD
TRD Strut Bars Front and Rear
TRD Boost and Oil Gauges with TRD Control Unit (The Oil one is not connected at the moment but just haven't got round to getting it done, I have all the parts that are needed to do it).
Balanced, Lightweight Flywheel
EL Sports Struts with Progressive Rated Springs
Heavy duty ignition leads
Trust Heavy Duty Oil Cooler with Relocated oil filter
Trust Exhaust Temperature Monitor (Stripped off by the SVA but still have it if you want it)
Uprated Steel Braided Brake Lines
Uprated Carbon Brake Pads (Probably could do with being changed at some point soon)
Alpine Double Din CD/MD DSP/EQ Head Unit
Recaro Sports Seats
Gewalt Evolution Split Rim Alloys 17"x9.5, 17"x8.5
Goodyear Eagle F1's 255/40ZR17 Rear (New end of last year), 215/40ZR17 Front

This car is immaculate inside and out but it does need:
PowerFC Remap
Electric Aerial
Here's the car itself:

Back on topic, my cars would be these:

MomoCorse Apex MR2 (track car converted for street so I could drive to and from track)
Lancia HF Stratos (for rallies, duh)
Honda NSX-R (weekend car)
Ferrari 360 CS (weekend car)
Ferrari F50 with X-ost straight pipes (once in a blue moon weekend car)
Aston Martin Vantage (summer daily)
Aston Martin DB9 (for when the vantage breaks down)
the upcoming Audi RS5 (winter daily driver)

This is a horrible thread...I feel soo confused...If $ was of no object, I'd have a lot of cars...and boats...and planes...and other toys. I'd be looking like Jay Lenno (except not soo many gay steam-engine cars...more crazy cars)

If money was no object I would pay someone (not sure who exactly prolly a team from lotus, ferrari, etc) to design me a one and only custom car specific to my needs.

The tanks are both amphibious...so they're bound to be fun. Running over a car would feel like just bumping the curb...
