cars that use the 94-95 universal steering wheel
94-95 USDM MR2
93-98 4th gen toyota supra ???? ???? In case you didn't know the mr2 in 94-95 changed to a universal steering wheel which is slightly smaller and once you drive around with it you realize that its a lot better than the 91-93. Anyhow what I wanted to know was which other toyota cars used that generic universal toyota steering wheel? Also if I got the product number would a dealership be able to tell me or no? |

Looks like the rav 4 uses the same wheel but without the stitching can anyone attest to this?

Is it possible to use the universal wheel on a 91-93, and if so, what modifications would be required? Also, I think the AE111 uses the universal wheel.

well from my experience you can stick any toyota wheel. It just depends if you want some features to work such as SRS or cruise control. There is nothing universal about it, toyota has their own standard spline

I think he meant universal as in universal to all Toyota models, not all steering splines.

yes but I would only want the exact same replica as the 94-95 oem wheel. The parts dept. said that they don't register as the same for the supra and mr2 however.

The supra's wheel was 3 points and the MR2's was 4. The only visual difference between the 91-93 wheel and the 94+ wheel was that the 91-93 had "MR2" stamped on the airbag cover, and the 94+ had the T emblem. The supra and corolla levin used the same wheel, the celica and MR2 shared theirs.
EDIT: I could be wrong, but this is what I've been seeing around. Other models will share wheels as well, these are just the ones that come to mind. Last edited by Sh0ty; 07-03-2009 at 10:24 PM. |

anyone know how much they go for used with airbag?
i have a 3rd gen mr-s wheel w/ no bag, but i need some extra money, so i been thinking about selling one of these that i currently have on my mr2, and just running the 3rd gen wheel without the airbag.. im not sure if its this one, as it came with the car, but it has the "t" logo and doesnt say mr2. and its in excellent shape. |

Supra wheels go for around 250-300 dollars on ebay, 300-350 with red stitching, I saw a celica wheel that looks like the 94 mr2 wheel go for 270, all with the airbag.
