Sheesh. There are about a million threads on that question.

More specificity would help. What sort of car do you want? Nimble and fun or fast and fun?

the MKII style is very very very very sexy lol
since you like that body style, you should go for it!..
MKI are beautiful in the eye of its beholder, i got a lot of remarks that its ugly but i can care less i love my car...
MKII still handles very well but i love the handling in the MKI and how light it is..

my friend drives an mk1 he likes it but parts can be somewhat hard to find. go wit a sw20 mk2 because u can find more problems easier and u can located it better. i dont know much about the mk1. so i think go with a mk2.

ya the aftermarket support on the MKI is somewhat limited unlike the MKII..

hey my mk1 is like a big go kart haha. i have always loved how the mk2 looks, its just out of my price range. i will have one soon enough but the mk1 is a good place for me to start. all in all, mk1 or mk2, a ton of fun to drive!

Mk2 or a mk1.5 would be the best of both worlds
