what water to use?

ok so i am wondering what water to mix with my toyota red? i bought some distilled because i figured tap water is dirty and has all that **** in it but my dad who is a machanic on bigger trucks and the such says its a bad idea. he is very knowlegable about trucks and that sort but i am not sure how much that applys to little cars. i just wanna learn a bit more about this subject and as always, i am sure there are people here willing to learn me a thing or 2. thanks in advanced.

Distilled water has no impurities, while house/well/city water has impurities. Over time using anything but distilled will cause build-up of deposits like calcium and other minerals in your radiator and the rest of your cooling system. Non-distilled may also help to promote corrosion and other deterioration in the system.

It should rust with any type of water on metal parts regardless of which water you use. Using distilled water is like using preventative maintenance. It will keep the system in better shape for a longer amount of time than using any other water mixed with the coolant. Needless to say if you are not the original owner who knows how the system was treated in the past.

If i recall correctly the impurities in water cause it to boil faster, so using distilled would actually raise the boil over point of the water. Google "distilled water in microwave". (Don't try this at home...)

The antifreeze itself not only protects your engine components from freezing but it also helps inhibit corrosion and increases the coolant boiling point, so that in even extremely hot conditions your engine does not overheat. I guess using distilled with it it would have a higher boiling point than using any other water, when mixed the same.

Distilled for my Inter cooler why not your radiator eh? I wouldn't use only water though. Anti-freeze has lubricating qualities as well as the info stated above.

The new "Toyota Long Life Coolant" is premixed with distilled water.

I would assume that Toyota is a big supporter of Distilled water in coolant systems since that is what they use.

well gonna give a sitrep:

went and got the flush, then my tools and checked the bleeder hoses i bought(which were a bit tight @ 1/4"ID) and lined it all up. then i jacked up and threw her on stands. filled some containers with water after reading the directions on the flush. went to work on the bleeder valve but before i opened it...sprinkles... i ****ing hate virginia.

on a side note, i went to the nex shop and bought some Arnold Palmer drinks, cheese it's and some beer. that sounds like the best course of action in this situation >>

dude, the hobby shop is your friend!
nothing wrong with this weather, it's typical autumnal weather! maybe you should get a shop down where i have mine and the weather should not be a problem again!
