hypothetically... (edit)

would it be possible to take the 6-speed SMG tranny from BMW and marry it with a turbocharged S engine from the MKII? amuse me with your thoughts.

edit: i guess i should throw in the more realistic possibility of the MKIII 6-speed sequential manual...

very slim. There's a company that was advertised in either import tuner or modified that does transmission adapter plates, might wanna search for something like that and ask them. I'd make sure the geometry lines up first though, and figure out which parts you'd be able to use from each car.

and have it be in an MR2?
Why would you is the question? If its to be in the MR2 aswell, the BMW isnt a transaxle for one, if its for the MR2 engine, well why bother? why not just use a BMW engine.

the bmw gearbox is like 5 feet long rwd box if you did manage to get it bolted up it would the yoke would be sticking out the side of the car also once its in there you would have to make a custom gearbox computer and somehow replicate the bmw programming so it would work
all up $100K easy

Anything is possible with the right equipment and know how but like MR JAS stated, its a above, the BMW SMG unit is a longitudenal setup unit (i.e. front engine rear drive), not a transverse unit.

Having said that, again with the right know how and equipment, it would be possible to mate it to a 3s but it would have to be used in a FR chassis configuration

You know, I read these threads all the time, especially over the years, and I still leave them abandoning all hope & shaking my head. It's child's play to stick in a 500hp Corvette motor in a Fiero or a 300 ft/lb 5.0L Mustang engine in a Miata, but it seems the only engine that fits in an MR2 is what came with it (other than the odd underpowered, wheezing V6 that almost always needs supercharging).

Don't bother explaining why, I know why already. It just sucks the big one, that's all. I think everyone wants an inexpensive 480hp/550 ft/lb Toyota V8 mated with a 6-speed LSD tranny in there - but we can't have it, and never will (for under a 100Gs, the price of two Caymen Ss).

short answer: no.

long answer: anything is possible with enough money....but it will not be a mid-engine setup using that trans. if you must....turn the engine with the belts facing the trunk and find a porsche PDK trans.

Aircraft carriers use a nuclear reactor to heat up water and create steam, and then use this steam to power turbines, the catapults, etc. Steam powers everything on an aircraft carrier.

With the exception of the...Kittyhawk I believe? And the Kittyhawk has been decommissioned.
