MR2 Spyder seats/seat covers?
I was going to buy a 2000 MR2 Spyder w/ 130K miles for $4500. its black on red. i was wondering since the wifey don't like the red seats as they are dirty and kind of torn, are there any good sites that i can buy cheap replacement seats? I really need to change the seats before she will drive. can you guys refer me to some sites that will sell nice seats, or will i have to drop a huge $$$$ and go to a dealership to see if they can sell me some new seats? or can i just go to wallmart and find me some nice looking seat covers for maybe $50 and put them on? what do you guys suggest?

I say import a JDM hardtop, strip it out and weld in a rollcage, get some Kirkey Racing seats (the 47 series, designed for road racing) and properly mounted 6 point harness.
Then do a 2zz swap and supercharge it. Then your wife will have other things besides the seats to complain about. ![]() |

ohhh man, i wish i had the money to do that. all of my extra money goes into feeding gas to the silverado 2500HD and the suburban that wife drives. thats why i'm about to buy this little mr2 to save me lots and lots of gas
everything else in the car is fine, just the seats are not in so great shape. |

Well sell off the two trucks and you can afford to do all the work you want!
![]() Personally, I wouldn't care if the seats were ripped or something, as long as they were still supportive. But we all know, if the wife ain't happy, ain't nobody happy. So buy her some seat covers for christmas. You know she'll only find something else to complain about...at least you're buying a 'cute' car. ![]() |

ya she thinks its "cuite" she wanted a Mazda Miata MX-5, but those suckers were too expensive, 15-20K for a used Mazda? no thanks. but then she saw this, so she liked it except for the red interior. ya i'll just buy some very nice seat covers or something. hopefully this car is not too expensive to maintain it. if something breaks, i don't wana drop more money than what i paid for the car lol...
btw can't sell the trucks. the 2500HD was bought new last year to pull our trailer when the family takes off to the desert on weekends. and the suburban was bought as a whole big family car that can haul 8 people. can't get ride of either one. need the truck, spend so much money making that truck a monster truck lol, 35'' tyres, huge lift kit with fox shocks.... and plus its diesel, i love the smell of diesel burning that is my monster baby the red MR2 Spyder is wifes car, i can't drive stick, she can. And she is supposed to teach me how to ride stick lol so i got to keep her happy and give her what she wants |

You're of the male gender and can't drive stick? I though it was encoded in our DNA!
Along with a love of beer, unburned hydrocarbons, and big lifted trucks! I learned to drive stick when I was 16. It wasn't so much of learning, as just jumping in the car and driving. It felt totally natural, almost like I already knew how to do it. I killed the car once only, and that was on a steep hill from a dead stop. But I used to live on a nice steep hill so I learned that one REAL quick. ![]() |

PM Aaron of Lithia Toyota - he's the best resource for Toyota OEM stuff. And an excellent MR2 resource in general, actually.
And you don't drink? Psh, beer doesn't count as drinking unless you start before noon. That's actually a really good thing, I know a lot of kids with alcoholic parents that have really ****ered their lives because of it.Driving stick is easy as hell, you just have to have some common sense and practice to do it. Within a week or two it will feel completely natural. My MR2 was my first stickshift car and I lived on a giant hill when I got it. I seriously stopped noticing that I was even shifting or doing anything special after a week or two. |
