Careful sonny or I'll waddle over there and smack you with my cane.

But I know what you mean about "35 going on 20". I'm going to have to start calling my car "The Rejuvenator". A few minutes behind the wheel and I'm 20 again with my favorite lady at my side and not a care in the world.

i have noticed that youger peeps don feel how the MR2 looks..
they perfer more of rice CARS W/ rocket bodykit... and loud muff... lol

even my 17ys old babe cusin just bought rsx w/loud muff and lips and feelling like he is the king of the world.. telling me he can crush my aw11 lol... little kids..(i was like that too lol)

as you get old(i feel) you starting to get bored of the cars that just loud and quick on straight ways.. and actually start looking for real sport/track car format.. that actually has potential to go fast straight and capable of sharp handling...

i actually think that mr2 is not good 1st car and is not good car for novice driver...
too small, too good of handling, capable of going superfast etc...
i think hondas are good first tunner cars, learn how to install intake, muff, drive manual shift, down shifting, launching..

after that some FRs like 1st gen rx7s so that person can learn how to deal w/ rear wheel drive cars, learn how to handle on curvy roads, what to do if car loose control, drift lol

and after that Mrs maybe..

hey bro 35 aint that old, still got many yrs to have funn
i m turnnin 29...
like jay z said.. 30 is new 20s menng... lol
just like good wine as you get age, you are getting closer to the perfaction...

I am 40 and I would fall under the catagory of not modding my car much. I dont have the engine knowledge and dont want to turn my car into a pile of parts! Unless however anyone is in the Wichita, KS area and would like to mod my engine for me! The only thing i have done is mod the stereo system. Alpine receiver, infinity speakers, XM Delphi ll, Garmin Nuvi 360 Navigation, and an infinity Basslink sub. That is all for now, i have to get to bed now and take my geritol cause i am such an old guy!!!

I'm 47. I prefer to leave things as is. I may add a chrome luggage rack so I can carry my mountain bike and my cross country skis. I may add a better radio. Otherwise, I will probably leave her as is. I think the MR2 is kinda perfect.

Yeah...Dave, I gotta say, a chrome luggage rack is probably gonna be an unpopular choice. Have you looked for something a little more modern - something matte black, or maybe a brushed finish? Chrome just doesn't fit a modern, bumperless car like a Spyder.

Have you investigated a small trailer hitch and a hith-mounted carrier? You could tote the stuff when you need to, but without the visual impact of a rack when you're not using it.

Eh...my opinion...anyways, I just noticed that that was only your second post, so welcome to the club!

I do prefer the MR2 without adornment. However, if I can't carry a suitcase, I'll have to leave her home when I take the wife on road trips this summer.

I hadn't thought about a hitch mount. That sounds good. I haven't seen a matte black rack. Anyone know where to find one?

BTW-Thanks for the welcome Aaron.

Age: 37

Car: 89SC

Mods: CD player, TRD springs. Other than that nothing else

Visits Toyota dealership for a once over every spring when she comes out of storage.

I have put 1500kms on her since I bought her four years ago. She is my mistress as my wife calls her.

I guess I fit into the "Older/No Mod" crowd.

Age: 15 and a half
Car: 1991 Mr2 Auto :[
Mods: BONE STOCK
I am going to make it really clean with some 17's and since its a non-turbo'ed auto I am not too sure what there is to do. (except the little cheap things you can do to it) I definately don't want some fart can so if you know what I could put to make it deepened and kind of sounding like a infinity let me know. other than that and a sweet system thats all im going to do to it. my second car is going to be audi a4, but I will still put every dollar into the mr2. :}

I'm 19, I'll be 20 in about 2 months so I am just gonna check the "20-25" bracket so my selection will be valid for the next 5 years. :P

I really don't have that many performance mods, although my "to-Do" list is extensive. The biggest problem right now is of course time and money. It will be an ongoing project for the next few years as I have other priorities that come first. Don't get me wrong, my car is something I look forward to every day even if it's just driving to and from work.

Pic in sig...

Performance/Handling -

Custom 3" Spectre intake
1989 Sunroof Front Strut Tower Bar Brace
Custom Husky oil filter/catch can
Kirkosaurus Urethane Motor Mount Inserts
EMSPowered MK1 MR2 Vacuum Hose Kit (N/A)
200mm Illegal Garage Lightweight Chromoly Flywheel
Exedy OEM Clutch Kit

Interior -

Panasonic CQ-C3333U HU (CD/MP3/WMA)
Custom Sony door panel speakers
Red LED radio bezel lights
JonO shift kit
RSe kit/drop plate
SpeedSource Brass/Aluminum cable & base bushings
MKII MR2 93+ shift lever
TwosRUS MKI MR2 Italian Calfskin Shift Boot
Billet Aluminum shift knob

Exterior -

Pegasus™ Projectors H7 conversion w/ LED angel eyes
1989 MR2 3-piece Taillights
1985 Wingless Trunk Lid

The "to-do" list is about 4X as long haha. Won't post that.

I'm 58 and have had my Spyder for 2 months. It's stock right now, but I will be installing a PPE 4-1 header/dp/hf-cat(haven't figured out the muff yet), TRD short shifter, ball bearing shifter cable bushings and home made CAI(using modified stock parts) and possibly a bored out TB. I'll probably weld the lower front & upper rear braces for more strength.
I hope my local SCCA regions(SOLOII) will have a street tire SM2 class(or at least a time deduction for s-t), but if not, I'll try to get some D.O.T. comp tires.
Next year, if the $'s are there, I'll do some internal engine mods.

I turned 18 a couple of months ago. I just got my MR2 MKI Feb. 22. It is currently my second vehicle, my old one will most likely be gone soon. I'm using it as a daily driver and a toy car - so to speak.

Current mods:
17'' Konig 7-spoke black rims
RainX Wiperblades
VR3 Stereo (CD/WMA/MP3)
New OEM Brake Pads
Komuho(sp?) Directional Low-Profile Tires
3x New 15A Fuses (I blew up two of them and one was really old and looked like it needed replacing anyway.)

Near-Future Mods
Blue Crystal HID Headlights (ordered and in shipping)
Clear Side-Markers (looking at getting - any opinions?)
Paint job
Intake
Exhaust (Ideas on an exhaust that WOULDN'T sound like a bumble-bee/lawn mover? It may not be possible but any suggestions on a high-performance exhaust regardless of sound is appreciated.)

Later-Future Mods
Engine Swap or Turbo (The car has 166, going on 167, miles so I believe it'd be best to most likely swap the engine as opposed to a turbo.)
Snow Tires (I live in Utah so I'm going to mount Snow Tires on the stock rims for winter times.)

1987 Toyota MR2 MKI NA 5 Sp
