35 the rest of the week. Ouch. Already?

2001 5speed. Sport exhaust and air filter. Relatively low on mods.

When gas is cheap this is my weekend toy. When gas is up it's my commuter.

I'm 18
I have an 87 mk1 with a 4age red top
My baby has some noisy exhaust that sounds perfect.
I tinted the t-tops with 2.5% tint to keep it cool when the tops are on.
I know nothing about these cars I used to be into American cars but I sold my El camino off for this little car.
I love the 32mpg's that I'm getting.

Only thing wrong with it is the slipping clutch that is hopefully getting fixed tomorrow.

I am 34, soon to be 35...

Had 3 1986 MKI's in my 20's. 4age stock.
Loved them all, wish I could have kept one.

I got my 91 MKII in Jan 2006
Number 193

Currently getting 5sfe rebuilt, with header and open cone as mods.

I still go to college here too, only it's for fun now though, like my 2.

Trying to get a feel for the average age of the mr2 owner.

I'm 44 and I expect to have a heavily modded duece as time goes on.
I have done wonderful things with older style pushrod engines and this
(hopefully) 1987.5 4A-GE I have in there is gonna get some love!

I'm ultimately looking for a major HP boost and mileage as well.
I'm seeming to get ~35 MPG right outta the box, HWY miles.
With a taller tire in back and engine/fuel system mods and an
experimental exhaust system I can forsee great things!

Talking New to Board, but not new to MR2s

Hi from New Mexico. I'm new to this group, but not new to MR2s. I am a 60 year old car nut who has owned 2 NSXs, 3 911s, a Boxster, a '69 Corvette, and no fewer than 7 MR2s. I recently sold my '99 Carrera because I was being harrassed by the local police and I kept my '93 NA MR2- yellow and my '89 white automatic MR2. This may sound crazy, but I actually enjoy driving my MR2s more than my Porsche. I prefer the seat-of-the-pants (am I dating myself with that reference?) feeling of the MR2 over the ultra-sophisticated, watered down nature of the newer Porsches. Over the years, I've owned British sports cars and the '89 MR2 has the same feel and handling as my Triumphs and MGs-- less the mechanical hastles. I love the nonpower steering of the '89 and when I bought my latest second Gen MR2, I found one online without power steering. I owned a '91 Turbo sometime ago and felt that the steering was a bit too boosted for the power of the car. I also own a 2007 Prius which I guess reflects the mature side of me. I'm proof that you're never too old to enjoy what I consider Toyota's best looking, best driving car ever built. Look forward to chatting with everyone. LT

MR24Life!!!!

Well i am 22 right now and i have owned 2 mr2's since i was 16 and I totalled my beutiful NA green 91 Sunroof model, that was automatic when i got it, but i converted it to stick. Then when i was 18 I got a NA 93 Black T-Top and swapped the turbo motor that i had in the green one. Yea i did think about selling it maybe like 3 or 4 times but i just couldnt, i mean just thinking about it, an mr2 goes down in history as one of the best jap sports cars out there with one of the best overall performance ever. Yea i know the car is hard to work on and modify, but after its done it is so worth it, so basically i can never sell my baby even tho its now running right now, but what can i do. i just have a deep love for the car and can never leave its side no matter how many times i blow the motor or something goes wrong with it. Well right now the car is under construction cause like 4 years ago i took it to this guy named ricky here in miami, florida and no its not ricky from rickys auto center, so any other ricky that does performance here in miami i suggest to stay away!!!. Oh yea and he was supposely moving to Pennsylvainia, so you PA guys watch out this guy will screw you left and right, but he wont do it right away he does it silently that how he got me!!!. I didnt see what was coming to me, like a young dum 18yr old kid i wanted 450rwhp, i spend like 14gs on parts and labor, basically spending all of the money that i had been saving up on this awesome car. The bad part was that with this guy he was just wierd about things like he wouldnt tell me how much a part cost when i asked him, after all the money i spend on the car he still wanted to do more to it, i never got to see the dyno numbers cause he never dyno tuned it, he street tuned it, he took forever to build it like 8months and it wasnt even running 450rwhp like i wanted, i would say it was pushing like 350rwhp, i mean yea the car was faster than stock by twice the stock power, but i wasnt killing everything on the street like i wanted it too. That motor probably lasted like 4 or 5 months maybe taking it out like once every 2 weeks to the hangouts, very very short, so then i put a whole in piston number 1 and blew the headgasket due to low voltage running through the motor. There so much more to tell, but i am gonna make this long story short and just say that i am in the current process of putting weisco 86.00mm 8:5:1 custom forged pistons made by murrays speed and custom, ATS TTE 1.2MM Metal Headgasket, ARP Bolts for the Stock 3sgte Rods, Greddy Side Skirts, 15" Rear Drag Wheels/MT Street Radials, Water & Methanol Injection, Main and Rod bearings from Twosrus, AEM Boost Controller, Twosrus CRW Heavy Duty CV Joint Upgrade, HKS 264 intake cam, and aeromotive FPR. Mods that i already have are:

1. Spec Stage 2 Clutch
2. Stock Shaved Flywheel
3. Stock 2nd Gen Turbo Trans
4. Balanced and Polished Crank
5. Stock Rods
6. Stock Head / Celica Turbo Valve Springs

Your post re-affirms my belief that after much research and driving, I really do have one of the finest compact sports cars to be built. Welcome to the boards.

I have just turned 19 years old. I have a Super White 91 MR2 N/A T-Top. The MR2 is the 4th car I've owned. In the past I have had a 97 accord, 98 Prelude (which I still own, but has a blown tranny) and an 87 Supra Turbo. All my cars have been paid for by me because my parents are very unsupportive of my hobby. My MR2 has Eibach Sportline Springs, KYB GR2 Shocks, TRD short shift, and an intake with K&N filter.
