I am 21. I own a 92 N/A. I just recently got it so I'm still pondering on some mods. Income tax time, I am getting a gen 3 cut, plus I'm upgrading suspension. Still wondering if I want to mess with the outside. No one in my area has mr2 so it already turns alot of heads. Any ideas on what should be mad to make the outside just a lil unique?

Christ wont this thread die already?
I dont even own the same MR2 anymore from when I made this thread. I now own a sleeper mr2, if thats possible. It is virtually impossible to see I have ne mods from the outside, and looks relatively stock, cept for the Black FD RX7 rims in the back. WIth the first $500 in engine bolt ons to the gen 3 motor, it ran a 12.8@108.3mph on a 90 degree day and a crappy 1.96 60ft on bald street tires. I bought it for $6500. Since I have received I have added TRD motor mounts, and have some polyurthane motor mount inserts on the way, a vmax anti-torque bar, a Street Brawler 50trim kit for a 3rd gen 3sgte, and also intend on getting some DR's, ats CV joint upgrade and a line lock. My conservative estimates is I will push between 300-320whp on the new setup, and it may even run 11's next season if it runs right. Few ppl can tell its fast from the outside though, with the stock exhaust hanging loosely off the back, no visible turbo gauges, and a loud crappy sounding open dpipe. ![]() ![]() |

I owned a 1988 MR2 Naturally Aspirated
I modified the intake, exhaust from headers back...injectors...plugs, wires, caps & rotor. Replaced/upgraded the Springs, Struts, swaybars, Brakes, and Wheels. Lightened the body and interior...added racing Spearco Belts(3Points),Momo champion steering wheel, re-fitted seats...The originals with new pads, leather sides with cloth interior. Paint and Stock Bodykit. I also ran the engine with 135 octane with methanal mixture. Light as a feather, flew like a bluejay...shoot like a rocket. |

I am 20 and own two mr2's that i have worked my ass off for since i was like 12. damn it was worth all the work!
my green one is a 91NA swap to a 93 jdm turbo. and built with an intake and exhaust thats it. My yellow one you see in the pic has a sc61 turbo neukin manifold and downpipe, with a apexi cutout under the car so i could keep the stock look and make it as sleeper as possible. this one moves real nice!! its been makin a good name for the duece in Fort Wayne IN |

See that blue line on the little bar chart, that's the hill, and I'm over it at the young age of 31!
My little 2 makes me feel younger though. NO older owners don't mod their car less I think if I can make an inappropriate generalization I'd say maybe they guys 30+ or so tend to put more into the performance and a little less into bling bling...just an assumption after a small # of people I talked to.I bought my car 5 months ago (after a miata, type-R and an engine swapped prelude), this mr2 is in its early stages of being modified but I've done all the brakes with oem new parts out of need, and I've added a boost gauge, downpipe and soon a boost controller. AFter which I'll replace the momo rims that came on it to something more my style and replace the tranny and engine with a gen 3 after another year or so. Ideally, i'll get 94+ rear clip and replace the suspension, brakes and drivetrain. Ultimately I want a nice clean dent and scratch free car that nobody would suspect of having 300 whp. (give me 2 years...and you'll see) |

58 going on 16
Just finishing up on my WTA 3SGTE Mk1. Started the teardown of my second Mk1 to put a V6 in it and number 3 is gathering parts for I haven't decided but a Supercharged twin turbo V8 might be an option. The sickness also extends to Dadge Dakota Convertible Pickups. One is a High Boy 4x4 with a 408CuIn V8 one is a Lowrider with a turboed V6 and one is stock. I haven't decided which I'll be buried in yet! ![]() |
