I haven't track driven a Mk I but I imagine that there aren't that many differences. One of the biggest differences between a FR and a MR is that a mid-rear chassis will be much more prone to oversteer. You will frequently be able to take a tighter inside line than a FR with similar grip. This is a trade off though because if you violate the traction threshold it's not nearly as easy to recover; when the tail starts to swing out you don't have much of a chance to correct before you go all the way around.

A good rule to keep in mind while you're learning to drive it is "slow in, fast out". It'll usually be the quickest way around the track and it will always be the safest.

x2, i oversteered leaving my highschool when i was 17 going down hill fast hitting a 90-degree turn and it took me for a ride into the curb, i tried to correct it but it was madness. take it from me, learn somewhere like a track or road where no one else is around and the amount of things to hit is minimal.

Good stuff. Just so you know though, heel/toe is NOT what you should worry about if you're new to track driving. In fact, I would suggest to you that until you're competent doing it on the street 100% of the time do NOT try to use it on the track because it can be a horrible distraction at a crucial moment when all your attention is needed elsewhere.

The first two skills you need to work on are situational awareness and corner analysis.
