Can't you buy a used lift for a couple grand? I'd say putting in a pit would put you in that price range most likely.

i don't think digging a hole and buying couple sacks of cement would cost that much, do you? beside a used lift is hard to find here, just new ones that cost around $4,500 - $5,000.
ben, i plan on doing much more than just changing fluids. Last edited by Mr2crazybyong; 10-08-2008 at 10:30 PM.. |

You can buy a decent lift for $1500. To build a pit in your garage you're going to spend roughly $500 to rent the equipment, another $1,000 in materials, then you need forms to pour the concrete (unless you want to die in your pit) and in the end...all you can do is change your oil. I'd say the pit would run at least $2,000.
Look in Harbor Freight catalogs at their lifts. Very high quality. On a side note, is that your car in your avatar? Pics..the front looks very interesting. |

thats illegal in alot of places, but Im assuming the laws are different over there. becareful, theyre illegal for home use because they can be a real death-trap. especially when an amature attempts it. keep us updated on the progress though man.

thanks guys..
i would use some plywood and pour in the cement on some metal support bars to form the walls, im gonna use water proofing too.. I have a temporary roof up for the moment.. These things are not illegal here in the Philippines, laws here are so slack it's unbelievable.. hehe.. Update: Thing are running slow since a storm went by, and there are still two more coming.. ![]() ![]() Suggestions are very welcome... ![]() ![]() |

You can actually get to quite a lot of stuff in a properly constructed pit. Anyone who says you can't hasn't worked in one.
