I would be all over this if I could get to cali and ship my rims to you. This is a hell of a deal guys. I had my rims painted, and was quoted $600 to do them. Luckily I worked at the shop at the time so I got a huge discount. Powercoating is so much stronger than paint, I have to be really careful not to scratch the paint when I clean them. With powdercoating you can power wash them and not worry about the paint chipping away.

how are you coating them? last time i checked, the standard temp run of the mill powdercoating was damn near bumping into low temperature heat tempering territory for aluminum.

no powdercoating process with the exception of ceramics ever cures at anything greater than 450 degrees. however, we use Fe2PO4 which we dip the cast aluminum in prior to outgassing which stabilizes the substrate preventing the metal from becoming harder, stronger, more brittle, less ductile, less tough

jazz, question
what about multi-piece rims? Are you going to disassemble and reassemble them? When you bake the rims, won't the sealant between the different parts come off? Or do they have to be disassembled first? Last edited by TRD_MR2_DRGN; 05-21-2008 at 05:08 PM. |

multi piece rims will be disassembled and reassembled. all bolts will have thread lock on them and they will be properly torqued in sequence using my snap-on digital in-lbs torque wrench.

yep, same price. the way i see it, anyone with three piece or two piece rims probably wouldnt want the entire rim in one color. they would want to have a polished or chrome lip or some other colorother than the color of the face and barrel. so i charge an additional amount for the extra colors

I don't know if it's just me or the pic, but the extreme chrome on that lip doesn't look smooth. Looks good, but just doesn't look smooth as polished. But maybe its just me or the camera. I'm interested, when's payment? I'd have to check on funding this first.

nah, i'm a crappy photographer!! thse rims were very smooth (the lip was already polished before i got it. i actually had to beat it up a little so the powder would adhere. i dont have to do that anymore though, i have since upgraded from my 16kVgun to my 125kV gun!!!!

and to answer your question, payment will be due before i ship them back to you. if you dont pay before that 72 hour time frame is up, we wont honor our deal. so it would be a good idea to be paid up just after you send us your rims
