brainstorming thread.......

As most of you are aware, we are attending NOPI nationals this september. We have run into a few issues that need resolving.

First, we have purchased an advertising booth on site which consist of an enclosed 10'x10' area. We were originally going to have a small powdercoating setup there and do some small parts for the enthusiasts. however, in order for us to do that, we are required to have $5M insurance with both NOPI and the racetrack as insured on our policy. on top of that, electricity is an additional charge ranging from $1300-$2600 depending on the voltage and frequency. we cant justify spending that kind of loot if we wont be making anywhere close to that in return.

so that's the issue. what can we do at our advertising booth to attract attention and get our names out there? here are a few ideas that we have come up with. If you have a suggestion, please let it be known. if we use your suggestion, we will give you a voucher for $200 in powdercoating. and here's the kicker, we will issue voucher's for $20 just for making a submission (as long as its something reasonable).

1. give out/sell bottled water with out logo on them
2. sell universal equipment such as shift knobs and pedals in various colors
3. t-shirts

let's hear your idea's!!!!

give out powder coat chip samples (the metal blanks coated) and have you logo/bussiness info on the back. or better yet get metal blanks and make a trick stencil to powdercoat your bussiness name on them and give those out.

on a sidenote why dont you get popular pieces and powdercoat them? i see guys sell painted spark plug covers and painted valve covers for hondahs at like boti and stuff.

Put together a vid of your PC process, and run it in repeat behind you while you have displays of PC'd parts on the table.

I have a feeling wrinkle red honda covers would be an eye catcher at a nopi event, or some other main stream combo.

megaphone?

If you guys can provide the water you could use my 2 todo what I do at car shows sometimes.

Take a few very large trash bags and put them in the frunk, (opened of course best way is to make a wireframe to keep them open and conformed to the shape of the frunk) and put ice and water in the frunk with a sign saying free water (with your logoing of course).

I am working on plans for a drainable Styrofoam ice chest that is form fitted to a mk1 frunk. But this is still in the planning stages.

......umm give away little kicknacks anything thats kinda small (perhaps take another posters idea and make sure the samples arent sharp (maybe a rubber edging?) and make keychains with them. I would take one lol :P....That would be cheap and effective as they are more likely to keep it on them and it would always be in view.

I will think of more..

Have one of your sponsored cars come if you can then hand out variously colored business cards made out of metal that have been powdercoated. Also you could pass out like a coupon for say like 5 or 10 percent off your first powdercoat order

Do what everyone else does.

Hire really hot models to showcase your booth and people will notice.

I like the metal business card idea, although that would be really time consuming.

Be sure to display lots of your finished products and i like the TV/Video idea too.

Purchase flash drives with your logo - inside the logo, place a nice presentation in PowerPoint offering your services and include pictures of your work. Thus, people can see what you do and in turn, use the flash drive for themselves.

Additionally, those 2 way pocket screwdrivers (PHILLIPS & FLAT BIT)are popular at trade shows as well.

offer a referral program.

such as this:

person 1 walks by. give him a paper slip of some sort. tell #1 to hand the card to people and have them come back to your setup, every time a different person comes back with that same card, write their name down and sign the slip with your hancock and with every line filled with their name and your siggy, the original person gets 2% off of their first order for powder coating. and for the people who stop in with the original person's card, they all get their own card.

Hancock... HANCOCK... at least spell it right, sheesh! It is my last name, but anyone that took a history class knows it is JOHN HANCOCK. Sheesh, give the man his dues, he was the first friggin signer. If it weren't for him and the rest of the folks we'd still be saying, "God save the queen" and we'd be drinking pints in pubs. Sorry, but lack of knowledge irritates me.
