Trunk mount intercooler
I saw these pics on your site. Why did you choose top to bottom for the air flow through the TMIC vs. bottom to top?
Looks efficient: just wondering if there was a learning curve, experimentation, or just "'cause we felt like it?" ![]() ![]() |

The simple answer is the hottest air will be found under the car. This setup pulled air from the top and blew it down onto the mufflers. The scoop could have been turned around, but this would have looked wierd. That car made 370rwhp on pump gas with a stock Gen3 longblock. The intercooler would not even get warm.

Any chance you have pics of the trunk lid? I'd like to see how this connected.

I was under the impression that the engine vented most of its hot air out of the top of the lid, wouldn't you be sucking that air back through the intercooler?
Not that it's really going to make a difference at speed... |

And most importantly, it's effect on the IC'd air. |

I will try to answer this without turning it into a debate about aerodynamics.
You will find that the air supplied from the bottom of the car above the mufflers will always be the hottest. The car in the picture has the Berk exhaust with the twin mufflers which completely covers the lower trunk area. With the mass of this intercooler and the dual fans, you could not heat soak this car. |
