any chance u could make a wright up for doing the gauge cluster? I'm either changing mine to a after market one with blue glow, or just gonna make the stock one glow blue... still debating, but ill do the climate thing. How hard is it to pull out? my cars pretty much in pieces right now so i can grab it n ship it to u next week if u want

Gen3 swap DONE!!
|
what all exactly do you have to take apart to do the LED swap on the climate control? Oh yeah I got my LED's for my gauge cluster in from superbrightleds.com yesterday and put them in. Love the new look the only thing I need now is my climate control white and all my interior lights will match.

Once the unit is out, there is 3 or 4 screws holding the back section to the front. First you have to pry off all the button faces, then the slider knob. Then remove those screws and the back will come off exposing the circuit board. Then just desolder and then solder the new LEDs in.

Bens setup is nice, seen it in person. He inspired me to get the same lights for my cluster. Ben, I'm thinking about sending you the rest of my stuff. I'm thinking the white... But first, i need to acutally do the cluster!

^ Like I said, if you can take the radio out, you can do the cluster!

If your still doing this when I get back to the states in Jan, I may just send the CC off to ya. I'd love to have a nice bright white LED interior. |

Hazard is just a 3mm LED and a 470 ohm resistor. You need to solder the LED and resistor together and then solder it to the circuit board. Make sure you know which one is positive and negative because if you solder it backwards it won't work.
The lights should be a breeze, good luck! |

Would anyone be interested in a color changing unit? It would automatically cycle through about 6 different colors. But the only catch is that you have no control over it, it will constantly cycle.
Here are 4 of the 7 cycles: There is also red (kinda dim), white, and a yellow-green. Last edited by Ben; 06-15-2008 at 11:57 PM. |

I am also doing some R&D to get some better lighting in the trunk because that tine light bulb doesn't help when you can't find something in the trunk at night.....

Yours probably looks better because you have the 5 LED bulb. Get the springs, it will be a bigger benefit overall than a different color climate control!

I know, thats why I put da smiley face!
Maybe next paycheck. Not sure why the 5 LEDs would make that much of a difference, but it does?! |
