Loki gets a new motor
So I finally changed the motor out in Loki after performance started to wane on the existing engine car (due to a failing Cam gear I found out). The new motor is based primarily on a 3rd gen engine, and is a 2.2L stroker. There are lots of things that are custom done on this motor as the ultimate goal will be very high HP numbers, but to start off with, I'm running:
*Street Brawler GT35R w/ anti-surge compressor and .82 A/R turbine housing *HKS 272 intake cam (110 lobe center) *HKS 264 exhaust cam (108 lobe center) *Fidanza adjustable cam gears *Apex'i sidemount IC with KO Racing IC pipes (custom) *2.5mm oversize intake valves *2mm oversize exhaust valves *Ported and polished 3rd gen head *12mm head studs (2mm oversize) torqued to 85ftlbs *Cometic Phuzion head gasket *Eagle rods w/ ARP2000 rod bolts *5SFE crank machined down on the main journals for fitment in a 3S Block (gen2 block) *Chris K cylinder sleeves *1000 grit lapped head and block (w/ SONiC lapping tool) *ceramic coated exhaust ports *Mirror polished (by KO racing) and ceramic coated combustion chambers *ceramic coated piston tops *Stock 3rd gen intake manifold *Stock 3rd gen throttle body *3" TKO exhaust. *880cc/min injectors in top feed rail I spent about an hour on the dyno doing some initial tuning on pump gas at 20psi. Here is the curve: ![]() I will be posting more pictures of the motor and install as well as doing some race gas tuning at more boost later on. Later I will retune with a larger intake manifold and an air to water IC setup. Last edited by Loki; 10-24-2007 at 09:54 PM.. |

Sounds like an enticing setup Kris. Looks like those 11's (and possibly 10's) will come much easier now than back on your old setup

Congrats on the new build Kris! That head is going to be amazing once a new inake manifold gets on there. Do I hear 800+ in the near future for you? Good luck on the rest of the build/tuning!

Excellent progress, Kris. This is very good power for the 92 octane you are using. Any guess as to what static CR you ended up with?
I suspect most of the torque drop after 6.5K RPMs is caused by the intake manifold. |

I got to see the car the weekend that he finished the build, and it looks as amazing as it sounds. Good work Kris, your build is strikingly similar to what I want to end up doing, and it's good to see my power goals were about right on the money.

There is one video of this pull on myspace at MySpace.com - KO Racing - 31 - Male - HILLSBORO, OREGON - www.myspace.com/koracing
I also have another angle on the same pull I will post later. We will post another thread regarding Tim's dyno pull. |
