SEARCH FIRST! MkII Front Bumpers and large body panels
A few people have asked about front bumper skins lately so I'm making this a sticky...hopefully it will answer a few typical questions.
YES, they are available. There is only one part number for all MkIIs. That number is 52119-17904. It doesn't matter what year, whether it is turbo or NA, whether it has fog lights or not. If you have fog lights, you have to cut the bumper skin to accommodate them. NO, they do not come prepainted. They are sold only in bare paintable plastic. NO, we do not have a body shop on site and cannot paint the bumper before sending it to you. YES, these things are expensive to ship. UPS typically charges between $100 and $130 within the continental US. NO, we cannot ship via US Postal Service. The box is way too big and USPS will not accept it. YES, we really do want your business, but frankly you might be better off buying a bumper skin locally. It's just not possible to give a big enough discount to cover the cost of shipping. YES, the same rules apply to other large parts. As an example, I had a request last week for a front hood. Unfortunately, just like with the bumpers, I can't save you enough money on the part to offset the huge cost of shipping - truck freight, in this case. FINALLY: If you are buying large body parts, you are paying a body shop to paint them for you. It makes better sense to get the best deal you can from that body shop or from a local dealership. That way there is no shipping involved and there won't be any finger pointing if there are any problems with the parts or the job. Last edited by te51levin; 01-23-2012 at 04:29 PM.. |
