Coolant Temp Sensor - 1991 turbo

Hey, I was wondering what the cost of a Coolant Temp Sensor for a 1991 Turbo would be.

I might have a little more of a problem, because it seems as if it broke completely off. Oh and it's the "gauge" not the "ecu".

Shipped to 95688 also.

Thanks
Rob

i just bought one..... 91'turbo temp gage sending unit at advance auto, it was like $15.00, they had to order it, but that only took a day. autozone should be able to get it also.

now as far as gettin the old one out..........you will probably have to remove the housing.. try heating up the alluminum housing with a propane torch. and try to turn it out with a damaged screw/bolt remover. you can get those at sears or most autoparts stores.(autozone has loan a tool program)

make sure to clean it up really good before you put it all back together.

be carefull as not to damage the threads on the housing....

mine was pretty tough to get out, the alluminum over time seizes to the threads on the sensor, just take your time.

I'm not very handy. This sounds a lot more difficult than I want it to be.

There is tubes and stuff in that area. Is it possible that I will melt something?

id move all plastic/and rubber away from the heat. if something cant be removed, shield it with a piece of scrap metal. you dont want to get the housing red hot or anything, it wont take much heat, you basically want the part your removing to stay cold (sensor), and the surrounding part(housing) to warm up so it will expand. this will make it easier to remove the broken sensor. take some masking tape, and label the hoses etc. as you remove them, and take pictures, so you can remember how things go back together.

id give you a hand if your in the Toledo Ohio area.

My Google Map

83420-20020 - $18.04 - Gage assy, water temperature sender

I have one in stock and can ship today. This is a Toyota part, not AutoZone (I will hold my comments about them and their parts for now). I can use USPS for $2 or UPS for $7.81 UPS. Give me a call if you want to order - thanks Rob!

Hey Aaron, is this price still accurate? and i havent forgotten about the horns. just saving the pennies.

Old thread i know but as far as Autozone parts go. Why in the hell would you pay $15 for that crap when you can get it from Aaron for $20? $5 extra to support a board sponsor AND to get a genuine part.

Aaron FTW!!

Nope. Apparently Toyota had a price hike between then and now, because the price has gone all the way up to...um...$18.37

And thanks for the support!
