Question What parts do I need?

Hey Aaron,

The speedo subassembly on the trans of my 89 SC needs replacing...and the replacement adapter (elbow) from the local Toyota dealer is not the same size as the old one!

The old adapter fits easily in both the new sleeve and the old sleeve...the new adapter is just a little too big for both. This is as far as it goes without serious pressure: http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...rOldSleeve.jpg

The sleeve is PN 33404-17010; adapter is PN 83770-17010. Should I be using other part number(s)? And if so, do you sell it?

Thanks in advance for any parts or info you can provide. You helped me out with some TRD filters a few years ago but I've been out of the hobby for awhile.

83770-17010 and 33404-17010 are both correct for an SC with manual tranny. The parts you got may have been misbagged (had the wrong part number on the bag) - I've seen that before. It might not hurt to make sure both mating surfaces are clean (no burrs) and maybe lube them with a little clean motor oil before you condemn them. Sometimes it doesn't take much to hang things up.
