You realize that when you ask for the strut you're asking for the whole assembly (tubes, springs, dampers and strut mount), right?

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the tubes?

I'm sure Aaron can set you up with the OE bits.

It's really hard to explain the whole thing but I have 8 tubes and all have some large degree of rust and the top mounts are all rusted to ****. I was just gonna check out pricing on this. If its crazy I'll get some cheap decent aftermarket strut inserts and make do with the 4 best tubes.

If you want, get a quote for 93 struts, and then swap your lowering springs over and if the price is right, I'll pick up the 93 springs. I dont want to go aftermarket just because I'm not too fond of progressive springs, so I plan on just getting 93 springs/Koni's and tuning it out with sway bars/shock settings/etc.

Just a thought if you're interested.

Alright, I'll definitely think about that when I get the quote. I don't really drive my MR2 hard anymore now that I have a serious job. I just want to have my lowered look I have now without all the banging around from the struts. I'll PM you if I decide to get them.

The quote for all 4 struts will probably be right around $450-500. Just the springs can be had for around $150.

That's actually not how Toyota sells them - at least not on these cars. You get the strut housing (tube) and damper, and that's it. No springs, no top mounts.

So a hair over $500 for the whole package shipped? but the top mount does not come with that? That was one part I really needed. How about pricing on just the top mounts for the rear? Thanks for the quote though, and yes it is a 91 but I actually have 93 struts under it right now.

Correct, top mounts don't come with the struts listed above. I've been threatening to put them on sale but haven't gotten to it yet, so here are the sale prices anyway. Yes, these really are sale prices - these are expensive little parts!

48609-17030 - $67.00 - Strut mount, front, '91-'93
48750-17020 - $97.00 - Strut mount, rear, '91-'92

No worries - just wanted to be sure everybody got the necessary information and knew what they were paying for. Although, if they wanted to step up for it, the TRD Japan SUSKIT comes with strut tops, tubes and the whole mess:

SUSKIT for CIRCUIT

About $2600 a set, if you're wondering...

AH you had me sold on the pic of the TRD's but then the price was a kick in the face. Lol Believe it or not my Gen3 MR2 has turned into my beater/work vehicle, yes I know sounds weird at first. But I do get 30mpg in it and can ALWAYS make it to work on time. But back on topic, I'm just trying to find a cheap solution to my blown struts. I have lowering springs on the car and it rides like a hay wagon. And like I said I actually have 2 full sets of tubes just one set has 241,000 miles on them and one has 190,000 miles on them. Idk though, I'll take a little time to think about it and I'll PM you if I decide to get anything. Thanks for the quotes though.

Believe it or not that's what real suspension costs In some circles even that would be considered low end.

Those TRD coilovers would be sick .

And as Gairloch said, that's what real stuff costs. If you wanna stay stock 93 height, OEMs are good. If you're going to lower it at all, Koni's for sure.

Well, they still have a price listed on the webpage, and that usually indicates availability. On sale? Ha! I could price them at half my cost, and there'd still be people trying to grind me down to $399 shipped. There's not enough profit in them that I can discount them to a price low enough that they'd actually sell. Honestly, what would the typical MR2 owner think is a fair price to pay for these?

It's funny, there's not much profit in any of the stuff we do for MR2 customers, but we occasionally get people pushing for extra discounts just because. I'm still not used to that. Maybe it's a cultural thing, I dunno, or maybe they think that we're buying a hundred dollar part for twenty bucks and just making a killing on it. If you've seen the ragged state of my MR2 you know we ain't getting rich off this stuff

I was trying to make a joke, it failed. In reality that is a fair price when compared to a KW or JIC product.

I appreciate the price breaks you do give us, and the fact that you actualy know our cars makes ordering so much easier.
