Aaron, is there a different ac condensor for 91na vs turbo?

Aaron
I was wondering if the 91 na condensors were the same specs as the turbo. Or if they are interchangeable. I bought an ac condensor off advanced auto for my na and I'm being told it won't fit because its actually a turbo condensor. Is this true?
Thanks!

Turbo and NA use the same condenser. *If* your chain store condenser is made correctly, and *if* it is catalogued correctly (i.e. it's not for someother car), and *if* it's not a universal part, it should fit...

Now, how can we get you guys to stop buying your parts from discount chain stores?

You will have to forgive me for buying non-Toyota parts. I had my Florida Toyota dealer tell me that EVERY component of my ac needed to be replaced. So I had to purchase non toyota parts to attempt to do what was needed. Then something came up financially and I had to return all the parts. I kept the condensor because it was the most difficult to find and it saved me so much money.

My complaint at the moment is that the Virginia dealership I took it to said that my condenser would not fit. The only problem is that i just went to take pictures of my condenser and there is no way they took it out and tried to put it in. Its still wrapped in plastic and taped and it would easily show if they have removed it from the original packaging.

Thanks Aaron. I really appreciate it!! Thanks for your time.

I agree about the toyota parts completely but I didn't have the money to purchase all the parts they said needed to be replaced and it was getting dangerous. My windowshield would never properly clear up and I had very poor vision. So I went with the non oem parts.

What upsets me the most is that I would gladly pay a mechanic a higher price to know that the work is being done properly and that I was being dealt with honestly. Now I have to go chew someone out because they ripped me for $300.

Any chance they looked at the condenser in the packaging and knew it wouldnt fit???

I always seem to look like a complete idiot in situations like these...

I would head back there and ask them to show you how the condenser is incorrect. It may actually be incorrect, or they may be pissy because you're not buying the parts from them. It happens. I know we get a little miffed if a customer brings us their own parts because a) someone else made money selling those parts rather than us, and b) if the job fails, it is harder to assign blame than if the parts and labor both come from our shop.

Also, just to be clear, I do understand that sometimes OEM parts are not cost effective. Sometimes it makes perfect sense to shop somewhere else, sometimes aftermarket parts are just half-assed cheap junk built by the lowest bidder, and sometimes the truth is in between those two extremes. I guess it's just a personality flaw of mine, coupled with extreme brand loyalty, that makes me harass people for buying aftermarket parts. I really don't mean to be malicious about it, and you guys are still welcome to ask about fit and application etc even if we are discussing non-Toyota parts
