Question regarding P/S Rack - 94 Turbo

Aaron,

I have a 94 Turbo with P/S. Looks like I have fluid leaking from the right boot...a bad sign.

Can you tell me what comes with a new steering rack? As in..does it come with all the pressure lines installed, etc. and all I need to do is put on some boots and new outer tie rods?

Also price shipped to 78665. This may have to wait for tax return time, but I just wanted to check into it so I know what I get and what other things I might need to buy also with this repair.

Thanks!

I am at home today and can't check current prices, but the rack was quoted out right here a couple of months ago. A quick search of the Lithia Toyota forum can usually get you pretty close on price (close enough to know whether it's a realistic option or not):
Rack and Pinion Setup

Check out the EPC pic on ToyoDIY - it looks like the rack comes as a complete assembly requiring only outer tie rod ends.

Let me know if you need anything else. That price is probably current or within 2-3% either way...

I believe Aaron is correct. I replaced the rack on mine last year and recall only needed the rod ends. I still have my old one at have so I'll take a look and see if the lines are still on it, assuming you mean the hard lines on the rack itself and not the feed lines.

The price on DIY or in the forum? I saw you quoting prices around $750 for the N/A models...and I would assume they would be the same rack...

DIY was mentioned for the picture. The part number you need is 44250-17060 which is the same for NA/Turbo models with power steering and the price is right at $700 from my recollection.

Yeah...just searching around it seems like there are quite a few REMAN choices on the web for $290 or so with a $200 core.

Will post to see if anybody has tried one of the REMAN companies with success.

Thanks for the parts link though...that is freaking awesome!!

No problem. Unfortunately, Toyota does not offer a reman rack for that car, so your choices are new, used, or aftermarket. I just hope you can find something other than Cardone...

And I use that site all day for GenIII and 20V part numbers, Lexus parts, etc. Damned handy.
