Parts quote - 4agze engine rebuild

I've about given up on finding a good JDM 4agze & doing some research on rebuilding mine...

The engine: 4agze, automatic transmission with a/c
The car: 1988 S/C MR2
I already have the basic tune-up parts - timing belt, replacement seals, etc - I was getting ready to do that when the car decided I needed more to do with my free time...

Parts I definitely need:

Rebuild kit
Crankshaft
water pump
new engine compartment hoses
Lower timing belt cover
Harmonic balancer

Anything else you can think of I'll probably need...

Thanks!

Well, there is no such thing as a "rebuild kit" in my world. Apparently Toyota does not assume that their engines will totally wear out before the rest of the car. So it's all piecemeal and varies depending on whether you have to bore the block or not (it's not a given that you will), what individual precision sub-size each bearing is, etc. Let's start with the stuff you've asked about, rough out some rings and bearings, and see where it goes from there.

04111-16113 - $216.36 - Gasket set, engine overhaul
90210-06013 - $0.70 - Grommet, valve cover (x8 = $5.60)
17849-16010 - $1.59 - Gasket, intake air connector to throttle body
22271-16030 - $1.77 - Gasket, throttle body
17857-16010 - $2.26 - gasket, supercharger inlet
17858-16010 - $2.24 - gasket, supercharger outlet
17859-16010 - $1.90 - gasket, air connector to inlet manifold
13011-16090 - $102.51 - Piston ring set, std bore
13041-16071-02 - $8.49 - Connecting rod bearing, 'mark 2' (x4 = $33.96)
11701-16010-03 - $14.91 - Main bearing, 'mark 3' (x5 = $74.55)
11011-15020 - $24.23 - Thrust washer set
13401-16020 - $349.53 - Crankshaft
16100-19115-83 - $93.81 - Water pump assy.
16571-16080 - $10.35 - Hose 16571C
16262-15010 - $8.07 - Hose 16262
16261-15010 - $11.23 - Hose 16261
16264-16041 - $12.75 - Hose 16264
16267-16031 - $12.75 - Hose 16267
16572-16040 - $24.70 - Hose 16572D
16573-16020 - $8.57 - Hose 16573B
16576-16020 - $10.66 - Hose 16576
16558-16020 - DISC. - Hose 16558B
87245-17111 - $37.84 - Hose 87245A
87245-17112 - $31.16 - Hose 87246E
11302-16011 - $35.31 - Timing belt cover no.1 (lower)
13470-16040 - $276.32 - Pulley, crankshaft
00295-00103 - $10.69 - FIPG sealant (for oil pan and cam bearing cap)

That will give you something to chew on, but let me know what else you want to look into. Thanks Dave!

This post is giving me something to chew on actually

Even with the +5% this is cheaper than the ACL parts I can get during a massive sale at one of the auto parts suppliers here

Curious though, for all I have no idea how heavy/bulky it would be for the purpose of calculating shipping to Australia.

Also, I need the 4agze top timing cover (the one with 4agze written on it which covers cam gear) instead of lower one

I don't need crank, crank pulley or con rod bearings

Are you able to hazard a guess at all toward postage? Getting a whole set of new hoses is kind of appealing though I think the ones I have are already pretty good condition... would you think it's worth replacing all if I haven't noticed any defects in the ones I have visually?

Prices will have increased a little 5-6% since we posted these last year, but should be a pretty good ballpark indicator.

That one's discontinued, I'm afraid...same as the naturally aspirated AW11, though, so should be reasonably easy to find a used one.

Kind of a crapshoot. I mean, they are all over twenty years old, but I'm so dang cheap I'm still on most of my original hoses too. AW11s just don't seem to eat hoses like most other cars do.

Well, let's see. Assuming you buy a gasket set, misc. gaskets, main bearings, water pump, and maybe a few other things pop up (timing belt, etc) you'd be looking at about $120 to ship via Express Mail, which is usually comparable in price to Priority Mail when shipping to Australia, and a bit faster.
