general question regarding ECU

Hi all,

I wonder if you can help me. Is it possible for any Toyota dealer (in particular one over here in germany) to test an ECU deeper than as per BGB. I think mine may have a defect as the specs when measuring voltage between RSO/RSC and E1 aren't right (should both be 8-14 V and I only have 0.4 V when testng between RSC and E1!!) I was thinking that maybe they could tell me whats broken (if at all).

Thanks for your time and greetings from sunny Germany.

Mark

Not likely. If the instructions in the BGB suggest that the ECU is bad in any way, we replace it. Technicians are not taught how to repair the ECU, so there is little or no reason for them to do anything beyond what the BGB says.

Ok. Could you clarify the testing procedure for the ISC valve for me then, because I cannot seem to get my head around what they want me to do. At the beginning of the chapter they write - perform all checks with the connectors disconnected - if I do this an turn my ignition on I get a loud buzzing from the fan controller in the trunk and none of the values that are supposed to be there, are! If I check with the connectors in place and ignition on I have the discreopancy mentioned below Any clarifaction possible?

Thanky Aaron

I'll try, but keep in mind I am not trained as a technician, and it will be a loooong time before I have the spare time to look into it...because I am busy being a trained parts guy.
