Frunk latch spring

Hey Aaron, do you know if you can get the spring that goes in the frunk latch (MKII, '93) and if so, how much it costs?

Thanks!

you can order from a dealership.

the whole assembly is just under $40.

I'm sure the spring would be much less.

Sure. There are two springs. The big one that actually holds the latch closed is 90507-20027 and your cost through me is $3.35. The smaller one on the outside release lever is 90506-09052, and it is $1.39 through me.

The big one that holds the latch closed is 90506-20043 and it is no longer available; the smaller one on the outside release lever is 90506-09029, and it is $3.02 through me.

In a manner of speaking, I am the dealership - this is our vendor forum. Our store (Lithia Toyota of Springfield, OR) gives a discount on parts for MR2 owners, and two of us in the parts department here own MR2s.

For what it's worth, I think you've been given either some bogus information or some very old pricing. The whole hood lock assembly on a MkII lists out at $53.84 (and most dealerships sell their parts to the public at more than suggested list price). Our price to an MR2 owner would be $42.08.

You say this is the spring to hold it closed. My latch holds the frunk closed just fine, I can't get it to spring open though. I thought the spring inside the latch assembly (holds the two plates together) was responsible for pushing the frunk up so I can lift it. Right now I lift the headlights to reach in the hood and pull it open so I can reach the outer release lever (also missing it's spring, but no big deal). Do you know what part I need then?

Whoops. The big spring pushes the hood open.

That's what I get for relying on memory and the EPC rather than going to the car and taking things apart...unfortunately I don't always have time to get dirty...
