I am hearing a loud sucking noise from my turbo which actually becomes a whistle higher in the rev range. Is this an intake leak and if so what damage is it causing and what effect is it having on performance. The car seems to be running just fine. Any comments would be appreciated

I am hearing a quite noticable sucking noise from my turbo which actually becomes a whistle higher in the rev range. Is this an intake leak that I read about and if so what damage is it causing and what effect is it having on performance. The car seems to be running fine. I'm not very mechanically blessed so is it an expensive job for a pro? Any comments appreciated
