    Hi Chris

Sorry for not responding--sooner? I'm not much of computer person 'cept for car stuff and I'm in the garage so much I don't always get back with emails on a regular basis, so ya might remember this in an emergency OK?.

Most of my front struts pairs have been sent out in the last few months as the economy has picked up. I have 1 complete right front, 4 bolt top support(that means 87-89), the other rt front is strut & spring w no top support.

BTW-Since your looking for a replacements be sure to match the year with your 85-86 or 87-89 and be sure to designate automatic or stick shift as they are/have different spring ratings.

Now about the advice that you need to replace all this stuff?
    1. You've checked out the front end my lifting it 2. and checking compression by maybe sitting on the front fender on and off. Yeah, sounds goofy but that's a test, it should not be stiff nor should it move super sloppy easy. That's the strut internals check.

    3. To check whether you need springs (usually not bro) bounce the car a few times and measure from a flat ground point to the center line of the nut/bolt that secures inside of the lower control arm. Front spec is 8 3/4"- rear Spec is 8 1/16" (mail me at plandcs@aol.com if you need pictures)

    4. As for the advice to change your Suspension Support (top part of the strut)-hard to confirm when on the car bro. There is a ball bearing setup inside the Support, they don't fail hardly ever. Lazy mechanics make extra money here.

Ok Chris, I may be out of line here with advice but I'm old and don't give a crap anymore.
Unless you want to thow money away, just buy all the strut parts.

Here's the catch when using hired labor (mechanics)

Most lazy mechanics won't want you to buy just struts because they have to pull the spring&support off and reinstall it. But on the other hand he just might gough you extra $ to do this and it won't save you any money anyway.
    (Rock and a hard spot?)

This is why "Car Guys" do their own work.

So how long you owned this GT? I'm always curious about you canucks as your cars are different than ours, we don't get "GT" models here.

How 'bout sending some pictures? (you've got my mail address) I'm a big custom and race guy so I always enjoy seeing other rides.
