1985 MR2, hardtop, 98k miles, with racing xtras

I have a 1 owner 85 hardtop no options car in Light Beige Metallic with 95k miles, no rust. I blew the headgasket and replaced it, but now the car won't idle, it turns over, and will run on starting fluid, but will not idle. I can drive it down the road, it just doesn't idle. Has to be something simple.

It has new plugs,wires, assorted gaskets, cap, rotor button.

Car comes with:

1 bolt in 6 point cage with single door bars

1 6 point harness man date '04

1 set of ground control coil overs, no springs, but we can work on that. Koni inserts that need to be revalved.

3 sets of wheels: Triangle wheels with All seasons, Triangle wheels with Azenis, Basket weaves with no tires

1 grant steering wheel and adapter (OEM is on the car)

Roll Bar Padding - used but usable. Already cut for this cage.

Spare fenders, hood and doors - you'll need 'em eventually racing.

Spare complete motor of unknown condition

Asking $3000 for the package. This car would make a great street car, I just can't get it running again and have lost patience. I already road race an '86 MR2 with the SCCA and am currently restoring a couple other cars, which, I now realize is more than I can handle. I don't know why the car won't run, I'm very sure it is a simple problem somewhere that popped up after the headgasket, but who knows. If a potential buyer wants to come to Knoxville TN and tinker with it one day they are more than welcome to.

I'll also do trades/partial trades on NFA items, preferably on a Form 3, or a Form 4 within TN.


I can supply pictures if someone is really interested. I still have the original window sticker on the car. The car itself is a $3k MR2 if it were running.
