leaking T-tops on a 89

O.k. Kids, this is the problem I have the T-tops on my 89 "2" are leaking badly already replaced the body gasket but the "s.o.b." still leaks mostly where the T-top gasket meets the body in the front part of the top, Asked my toyota parts guy what he thought about it he said sounds like the rubber gasket on the top is worn enough to let water by he also said that toyota do not sell just the gasket for the top I would have to buy the whole top to get the new gasket thats a little pricey so have any of you guy's or gal's run into this problem and how did you fix it, Thanks so much for all your help, Kevin

I'm sure there is another post on here about this but... just from my knowledge you will need to have your doors adjusted or replace the hinges. If you plan on keeping the car I would suggest replacing them.

A hinge re-alignment is definitely a good plan but after some spirited driving it probably won't last too long but it will still be better then before. I had the same problem with my '89 SC and I received the same explanation from Toyota about buying the whole T-top glass portion.

You can also try sealing it with a non-petroleum gel, you can test it with a garden hose. Some I know have used Vaseline which tends to fluff up the weatherstripping as well as seal it. This works very well in the short term but it eventually wears down the weatherstripping and then you'll be forced to buy the T-top$.

he does make them. get them. GOOD vendor and EXCELLENT customer service! also get MkII t-top guide bushings as they come in different offset. if you must use petroleum jelly, use silicone dielectric grease instead.
