air intakes
ok i have an 85 MR2 and the air intake on the drivers side is flat( the one for the engine). just want to know if anyone has put the later model (raised air intake) in place of the flat one in hope to get more air to the engine.
thanx Mista 2 (Jordan) |

For a minute I was confused... Intake on the drivers side? Then I saw you're an Aussie. The side scoop (vent - whatever you want to call it) is a straight swap between the two revision. Just 2 or 4 screws, can't remember exactly, and put the raised one in just like the flat one came out. When I bought my '86 it had a later model one on it, but I swapped back to the '86 style.

also, remember that the air flow for the MkI is primarily from the bottom going up. the raised engine cover won't give you more air in the engine.
