Alarm tone help?
Hi everyone,
Just picked up an 87 mk1 mr2 today. 122k miles on the clock, alright condition. (5 spd of course) Ill get pics up later on .Heres the issue: When i start the car up, there is a loud alarm tone, sounds like its coming from right behind my head. It lasts for about 2-3 seconds. It goes away after this. It didnt do this when i test drove it, i believe it had something to do with me or my friends tinkering around with the lights or switches or something. Anyone have any suggestions or know what to do? Thanks in advance, Zac |

ummm i'm only thinking of my expierience with aftermarket "alarms" coolant level/oil pressure, but yer maybe could be a low coolant level (until pressure activates sensor) or low oil press (check on your gauge as mr2 has no low press warning lights) warning buzzers that have been fitted aftermarket...
Just a thought as i'm reasonably tiddled...a lot of the Landcruisers out here have EPM (engine protection modules) fitted that do a similar thing.. |

Oh, sorry - There is no aftermarket alarm.
I was just saying what the tone sounded like. |

Thats the seatbelt chime - it's behind the lower rear panel just before the rear edge of the door frame. It's a little bit of work to get to it, but it's normal to hear the noise.

Car looks pretty good, I'd change the wheels though. =)

fyi-mk1s have the same bolt circle as a honda. I'm sure you can find one of those idiots who has a set you can get cheaply. you can also do a staggared fitment(I ended up with 16"F and 18"B thanks to a free riding mower from a friend and a neighbor that wanted it, and no the 18" don't bog it down much)
