Tranny Question on my 86...... it died

I need your help please. Ive noticed fluid leaks under my car for some time, but when i check the oil its always good to go. In fact never had to add oil. Then 2 days ago, i lose 2nd gear (4AGE 5 speed), its like its not even there....no grinding, no nothing. Then a day later I lose 4th gear. And thats how it sits. Now im carless. I have 2 full Parts cars. So, where should I start, If youve noticed my posts, its always 1 thing or another, but i love this car. I really dont have the cash to take it to a "real" mechanic. Should I switch out my trannys with one from the parts cars? and how does that work. Please dont tell me I have to remove the engine to do that. What do you suggest. As always, thanks for your help...

make sure you didn't have a cable break, and check to see that both cables are connected to the trans.
