Project: 11second aw11
Well, gonna start a thread for this project will start addding pictures soon as i can, for all those who dont know the goal is to build a 11 second 4ag powered aw11. Plan is to utilize extreme light weight and moderate hp numbers to achieve it. The car is a 88 mr2(thought it was a 89), it's gettin completely strip'd to the bones, every lil bolt or piece of metal that doesnt need to be there is going out the window. Shooting for a weight of 1700lbs. The engine for the first pass maybe 2 if it survives will be the stock 4ag on a 55hp shot of nitrous. After that the engine will be rebuilt with arias forged pistons at a comp. ratio of 8.1, havnt decided on which forged rods im going to use. everything will be button'd down with ARP hardware. 9lb flywheel and a complete lightweight pulley set will ease the engine rotating mass, slight head work and a valve job will be done also, bigger injectors and high flow fuel pump will help with the extra fuel demands. There are a few other lil goodies that have not been line'd out yet but the motor once rebuilt will be forced air compliments of a t25 turbo at this moment(may very well change, just all i could find at the moment) with a zex nitrous system throwing another 55-100hp on top of that.

haha an 11 seconds mr2 with a T25 and nitrous. Is this a joke? And shaving for a 1700 lbs mr2, what are ya gonna do.. cut off your trunk? I read your other thread about losing weight and you cut out the bottom of your frunk.. geez imagine the amount of air pressure build up under the hood when you drive above 60 mph, unless you're planning to fly your car to victory at 150 mph. On average depending on options, the car would weigh around 2350 lbs. Are you telling me that you can shave off 600 lbs off the car by removing the sparetire and a few carpets and by cutting thin metal pieces all around the car? Maybe if you remove hood, fenders, roof, trunk, all together you might be closer to your goal.
Why aim for time.. what are your power goal. Are you planning to build a 500whp 4 cylinder car to run 11 seconds on a T25 that runs out of breath before 6000 rpm and some shots of nitrous? Its harsh but dont get false hope, do some research before putting yourself through this. Ive seen people done 3sgte swaps with 300whp+ and managed to pull mid-high 12's. The task isnt impossible, but its nearly impossible to achieve. |

you seem to not get the full scope of the weight reduction im doing, its not just your typical go around, and no air pockets will not be created i will be replacing with aluminum sheets to prevent this. The car will in no way be street legal, strictly track car. windows replaced wth lexan, the body will just be a thin shell when im done, considering just going with a sheetmetal and plastic body, depends how much weight i can drop still using a hollow'd out mr2. It's pretty much just gonna be the frame and drive train. Im very confident i can meet my weight goal. With the weight im shooting for, Im not going to need a whole lot of wheel HP to make high 11's. I didnt the math, and 200hp to the wheels or just slightly over, will put me around 11.8 at my current weight target.

to try and fight the thing about the air pressure, lower the car as much as possible, especially in the front, and stiffen the springs if you can.
