86 mr2 na hard starting when cold

Hi everyone! I'm new in this forum and would want to find out why my 86 MR2 takes several cranks before it fires up when cold. I've checked and cleaned the cold start valve but still no improvement. All inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

cold start valve is operated by the cold start injector timer. i would suggest this:

remove the cold start injector from the intake, but leave the gas line and electrical connector on it.

place the injector in a cup or something to catch the fuel, (just in case)

have the assistant start the car.

at the moment of trying to start the car, when it is cold, the cold start injector should open up via the cold start timer.

if it does not, two conditions may exist that would be causing the longer start if it is related to the cold start injector:

1. cold start injector bad
2. cold start injector timer is bad.

i think the temperature sensor may have play in this circuit also, but can't be for sure until i look at the schematics again.

i'll update later, unless someone else posts the correct info.
