Grinding from pass rear, brake?

My 86 car has a funky grinding from the pass rear brake or bearing. The odd bit is that its a is perfect for a few days then appears with a wicked and embarrassing grinding sound. It happens more during turns and reversing. Any help before i start blindly throwing money would be great.

Thanks
Scott

our parking brake cables are prone to fail, so that is an option also.

but one the cabels go bad your Ebrake will not work. Jort got a Good rotoe from Orellys for $20 some pads ones you do that you can crawl under your car and ajust the Ebracke T-line HOW don't forget to lipt your Ebrake 4 or 5 clicks ones you do that ajust the T-link untill it gets nase and furm. One you do that you will be abel to lock you rear brakes whan you lift the Ebrake all the way.
How sayd that the AW11 rear brakes DON'T LOCK UP! time to GO Drifting

Grinding sound

Since you say it seems to happen more in turns and while reversing I would suspect the wheel bearing. I also have been getting a slight scraping/rubbing noise. A few weeks ago I was told by Les Schwab that I needed a bearing. I recently put in new pads, the rotors were fine. I did buy the bearing and plan on putting it in next week. Good luck and let us know what the result is.
