Please help
I"m the second owner, no warranty. I'm gonna check at autozone for them to find the code for me for free. Do you think that i can figure out whats wrong with it from the code? Then I'll take it to my mechanic. it's just that i'd like to know whats wrong with my car before the mechanic tellls me.

There is still the powertrain warranty applicable to you vehicle. Just because you are the second owner doesn't mean anything. Powertrain warranty is 5 year/60,000 miles from the date of first use, regardless of owner.
You may be out of warranty because of time, but there is still a possibility that warranty applies if the car was first purchased November 12, 2002 or any time in 2003. If you bring it to a dealer, they will charge you a diagnostic fee, but if the car is under warranty, and the repair is warrantable, then you will not be charged. The biggest thing I would worry about for a check engine light on a MRS, is pre-cat failure - that is something you want to have under warranty. I suggest calling your local dealer and have them find out when the date of first use is. All you need is your VIN. |
