Question from a new MR2 owner: How to use jackstands?

Hi!

I recently bougth a MK1 MR2 (and love it )

However I'm kinda new to cars and have run in a very silly problem.

Where do I position the jackstands at the back of my car? I lifted one side with the included jack and went to check my haynes manual but the diagram does'nt show support points for jackstands at the back.

I'm talking about this diagram

Since I need to crawl beneath it to change the oil and filter I rather not have it crashing down on me, especially since the previous owner lowered it (thats all he did luckily).

I found this image online and from what I can tell I can just put the jackstands next to the jack (same place as C on the diagram) Is this correct?

So please help a novice out

Yes you would put the jackstands right next to the jack. I would suggest that you go and spend a little money on a floor jack. it's a lot easier to lift both sides of the car using point A or B. But you may only need to lift your car to change the oil filter, in which case the stock jack would be fine for you.

I wouldn't want to trust the stock jack for doing any kind of maintence work. Especially on a Mk I that is ~20 years old now. That's just asking for trouble.
