First off, I'll give you my opinion on Lambo doors. I hate them. I'm not just some person bashing...I have them on my show car. I was sponsored by Decah when they first came out 5 years ago or so. They've lasted this long fine, and on the original shocks too. Never gave me any issues, so I can recommend Decah. But still, I find them annoying. At first they were neat. They were $1600-$2000 full price, so no one else had them. When other people did, it was only a few. Now they grow on trees. Plus is gets annoying, ALWAYS lifting your doors up. I miss opening them out on that car. I've contemplated taking them off. 3rd, I think it ruins the lines of the car. So much so, I don't pop them at shows most of the time anymore. I just leave the doors shut, windows down. I may open one side on the non-isle side of the car, but that's it.

Also, get them installed properly. I installed mine myself, and they came out right. No one had installed them back then, so it took me a long time to get it to line up and look right. There are some tricks that make a difference between a good and bad install. Like a body kit, it's not as simple as bolt -on if you want it to look right, it never is. You can't tell when the doors are shut now, it lines up perfect, but still. ESPECIALLY with the universal (weld-on) kits, make SURE they are done right. I've seen some at shows (many, actually), both universal and bolt on, that look like crap. They gap is too wide, the fender is pushed in or bulges out, the door hits the fender, I've seen it all. 9 times out of 10, this is caused by a shitty install. The guy didn't take the time, or didn't know the tricks, to install it right. It's easier to fix a shitty bolt on install. Remove and re-install properly. Time consuming, but still. Weld on, you have to crack the welds...ugghh. I've seen a f'd up weld on install...not pretty. It was a buddy of mines truck. I could have fixed it if it were bolt on, but I wasn't going to crack the welds to so I could line it all up right. I could go on all day about what I think was wrong with this install (sad, it was done by a VERY reputable custom shop owned by another friend)

That being said. All the Lambo Doors you saw were probably universal ones. Almost ALL the major Lambo door manufacturers sell universal kits.

These 4 companies sell universal lambo doors. I'm guessing that the MKI's with lambo doors you've seen are using one of the universal kits.

Decah
Decah.net | VDC | Lambo doors
(first lambo door kit on the market. Period. Other companies try and claim they were the first, the first with bolt on kits, blah blah...but they lie. Doesn't go a full 90 degrees straight up)

GT Factory
::GT Factory::
(full 90 straight up door, the first kit to go full 90 degrees)

Autoloc
The Hoffman Group - Autoloc - Lambo Doors - 130 Degree Movement Lambo Doors
(goes 90 degress +, there standard lambo door design is similar in design to gt factory)

Vertical Doors, Inc
http://www.verticaldoors.com/
(almost an exact copy of the Decah hinge design, the hinge was based on the Decah hinge. They install almost the exact same, and like Decah, do not go a full 90 degrees. I'd rather go for the original than the copycat)

Lamb Doors on a MK1? Not the most logical or practical modification and they won't help you reach your 500hp goal but Lambos on a MK1 sure does look good

ya i proably will lol i can see where it would get very annoying after a while not beig able to open the door normaly and it would suck in a small confined space like a low celing parking garage lol (well there goes the windows)

This falls in the same category as RHD conversions and JDM'ness... In the end, you will have sunk a large chunk of change into it... And you dont go any faster... Oh, dont let me forget, alot of people will hate it.

The scissor doors do not look right on MK1's they dont follow the bodylines, and thats what i hate about 90% of these conversions. It just wont look right because I can tell the door was obviously made to open outwards. Simply look at the shape of the doors on Lambos and you will see what I mean.

Da Original

Now, why else do scissors door kits look aweful? Rabbit ears, what causes it? The fact that the door needs to open outwards enough not to hit the fender...

Nope, sorry. Only if you choose the wrong one. I've been with my girl over 6 years and I don't hate her yet

FUGLY.. doesn't follow the body lines on the MK1 at all.

I've actually had people wave at me by opening those doors at a car show.. lol.. hence the reason why I don't go to car shows anymore.
