Maladjustments

So I got an '85 MR2, and mang the car is nice !!

So, the thing is that the car didn't start up sometimes, so we brought it in for the mechanic (who sold it to me) to check it out. Turns out that it wasn't the battery problem as my father thought it was, but the distributor cap and the idle screw on the throttle body was maladjusted.

So, in all my stupidity, decided to tweak the idle screw myself and got some weird results. Now, not only does the car not start up sometimes, it also doesn't seem to run on 1st until i got about 5-10mph.

I also hear some kind of rattle/scratching sound ... and am particularly scared that that sound may cause some serious damage to my car.

Thanks in advance for any response.

And so, my father was able to pull up some contacts and I was able to get a few opinions about my car. A mechanic was able to tweak the adjustments back to a pleasent operable condition.

So I notice the thing about my car is that it lags on first gear .. slowly pushing along and then going all out when it reaches a certain speed, around 5 mph or so. So, someone told me that it may have a big deal with the vacuum hoses and other hoses being old and faulty/leaky, especially with the car being so old and neglected.

What do you guys think ??

Well, I managed to get a few people to look at it.

So far, I've identified the TPS is faulty and needs adjustments.
Trying to identify a certain diagnosis code, but having trouble
finding it in the manual.

But other than that, the car's pretty good. Friend says that it's
not putting out as much power as it should .. so that might be
the mickey mouse fuel injectors that are on the car.
