New clutch, share the specifics! Are you getting a new lighter flywheel too?

If you don't want a mess in your garage, DO IT IN THE DRIVEWAY!

If you have the money, I would definitely suggest going with a lightweight flywheel. I got a 9lb chromoly 'Illegal Garage' flywheel for $115 on the forums. Best upgrade I've done to my car so far, and it's just 8 bolts to remove/install, done. The stock flywheel is 16lbs so it's a pretty big improvement.

One of the nice things about doing it in the driveway is it gives the neighbors something to talk about.

If you ever need to get old oil stains off your driveway buy some cheap powdered laundry detergent and pour it over the oil. Give it a light sprinkle of of water, scrub with a broom and let it set. In a couple of days rinse and do it again. The laundry detergent will pull all the old oil out of concrete within about a week or so. Might take two or three applications but it will pull all the oil out.

Go fast turn left and keep the shiny side up!

i was tryin to put a starter on my other car...piece of $hit 1992 plymouth laser (cant complain though, i only paid 150 bucks for it). anyways this was in the parking lot of my apartment complex and they got pissed and put a sticker on my back window that was sayin its gettin towed in 24 hrs. so i was like ah $hit and finally got it started with the POS starter that was on it and took it to my dads shop and let him deal with it. ha ha

Yeah the Fidanza units or similar can run $300-400 bucks. They are not chromoly though, which I prefer. They have the removable/replaceable mating surface and are aluminum. Some people have had problems shattering them, recently I think a lot of people have switched over to the solid cast chromoly which should be "safer". The one drawback is some machine shops cant resurface chromoly, and if you severely damage it you have to buy a whole new one. I doubt that will happen with a 100HP car though lmao.

I ordered a Fidanza for my MR2 from Ultrarev on E Bay - $295 + $9. shipping, haven't installed it yet but that was the best price I found anywhere.

Couldn't find a Chromoly for less than $400.

I looked real hard at that flywheel and then called Prolite. They tell me the flywheel for the Corolla is different from the MR2. I followed up with enough research to believe them, bit the bullet and spent another $100 for the Fidanza.

You are welcome to try that one for the Corolla and let us know how it works for you.

Different in what way?

I already have mine installed, it lookes pretty close to that one. Just "Illegal Garage" brand. I went with the 200mm setup.

There is another member with that flywheel in his AW11 though. Here is his page - MR2 Clutch & Flywheel

It very well may be different. I do recall though at one point in time they had the XTD chromoly flywheels advertised for the MR2 AW11 85-86 (200mm) and 86-89 (212mm). They may just be out right now?

Don't hang around the shop and take pictures of the install, it'll probably drive the mechanic insane

If it doesn't drive him insane it will surely raise the price.
