One of these days I may do that to mine, though I'd need two things to do it: knowledge and time . 2 years of small engines doesn't prove to be enough to tear down the engine on a running vehicle.

So what parts of it did you rebuild? It looks like it was just a really good cleaning. How long did it take you?

It was done all in 1 weekend. The pistons are new. the head is rebuilt. The valve cover was repainted. The pistons are oem replacment. I had a little problem with 150 lbs compression but I think the rings need to brake in. I'll do a compression check after 1000 miles.

Only exciting when you turn the key and it actually starts... otherwise you want to take a hammer to it.

It looks like you did it with the block in the car in a weekend. Great job!

Break it in nice then flog it and remember your main rules are to keep the shiny side up and don't swap paint! Oh yeah and avoid getting any personal attention from any law enforcement agencies.

Don't be too gentle. You do have to keep the revs reasonable - something like 3000 RPM for 100 miles, then 4000 for 100 miles, then 5000 until 500 miles - but you really need to get some WOT in there to help seat the rings against the cylinders. This is an important part of break-in. In fact I like to go WOT as ooften as possible during break in but, like I said, keep the RPM low until all the parts get used to their new home.

After 500 miles, change the oil and let 'er rip. If you built it right it'll be ready for all the redline you can throw at it.
